Can anyone find individual and team stats on this?

Interested to see if there are any possible midfielders we could target for next season who get high clearance numbers. I think next year we should look at trading our first round pick unless we truly think we are getting a gun, e.g. Selwood and not take a punt e.g. Tenace or Mackie and instead look at getting a clearance winner. I am not even concerned about pace on this player e.g. Sam Mitchell would go very well in the hoops.

I would also be interested to see what angle we could use to actually get the player too. For example Sam Mitchell probably couldnt be had. Hawthorn are on the up, he would be well paid, happy etc. Have to look at players who may have a reason for a change, poor team, salary cap pressure (which we might be under too), etc etc.

Cousins wont come to Melbourne - now Carl Williams is doing 35 + hows he going to get loaded?? Needs to stay near the bikie gangs in Perth.......

If Cousins leaves West Coast the only club he would consider would be Geelong. He might be cheap to get in regards to a trade. A second round pick would probably do it. Imagine the midfield G Ablett, Chapman, Bartel, Cousins, Selwood etc.

you are right in a way Jack that there is the "in" that is required to talk trade. I was thinking of clubs that were on the way down or players that like Cousins have a reason to leave.

We will need our first round pick to secure a young ruckman for when Ottens/King retire. However, if we finish high up the ladder we may miss out on guns like Kreuzer, and it would be better to trade rather than take a punt as mentioned above.

With our current list, we are a tall back and pacey mid who can get the clearance away from a flag. We could pick up at least one through trading.

A trade for Cousins is high risk for high reward. Risk being his general lifestyle and the cultural change he would experience in Geelong....................have we worked out what the culture is yet? :p

Reward would be great if he is on the straight and narrow and looking to find a new home to extend his career and prove that he is still worthy of star status, not just fallen star status. Plus the father/son connection might be some sort of bonus.

Although it does bring him back into the general vicinity of one M.Gardiner (incidentally doing very well for himself with a nice apartment in Port Melbourne and a lovely black Mercedes.......very gangster lol), which could be an issue if they have any "get togethers" would need some sort of assurance that he does not have anything to do with him unless on a footy field against StKilda.

Maybe Cousins will be able to weed it out and ice it before it gets too bad. :p

Kreuzer would appear likely to go top 3. McEvoy may be more realistic at this stage. Saw him in a U18 Champ match last year and looked very good. Will only be better with another year of maturity.

Tenace was hardly a 'punt' pick. About as highly rated within his own draft crop as that of Selwood. Might seem all the more damning given how he's turned out thus far, but I certainly wouldn't put him in the Mackie boat of smokey picks.

And I sincerely doubt any of this years top ruck prospects (of which there are quite a few) will last to our pick (given the way things are shaping out). We're probably better off looking at someone like John Meesen (talented kid starved of opportunities at another club).

Why not go for probably the best clearance player in the league at the moment... Nathan Foley. I can't get enough of watching this guy play and was very impressed how he took Geelong on, even though they got pumped.

He never stops trying as was shown on Sunday night... Great player!!! He is exactly the type of player we need. Young, hard at the ball, great at winning clearancess... GO FOLEY!!!!
