Both have been tried over the last 6-8 weeks.

Which one will fill the backup role going into the future.

All thought Street was gone a few weeks ago.

Comparing Street and Chambers:

Street is a excellent tap ruckman, he proved this on Saturday. His skiills around the ground need work, but he does seem to be able to get into the right spots and can move the ball on.

Chambers is competitive in the ruck, will give a good contest. At this stage, tends to go missing around the ground and struggles to get any possesions.

Both need to work at physically imposing themselves on the game. Also need to drop back into defence to assist the backmen, or be used as a mark/handball link player through the middle on the rebound.

I actually honestly think with Street's tap skills, he may be better on the balance at this stage.

Hopefully, at the end of the day, one of them can step up and help out Kingy, who clearly needs it.

Great topic.

I had mentioned yesterday on the game thread that Street had given a good account of himself yesterday when the team was thrown into a relative crisis with Steven King's late withdrawl.

And on the basis of what he's done over the last coulple of weeks, maybe it might be a bit premature to delist him, as some of us have been suggesting up to this point of the season.

Neither of these players are quite close to being in Steven King's class-- but then again, who is?

But the way both are playing right now, I think Geelong are well served for depth in this area at present.

Having said that, I'd say Street would be the man of the moment, but Chambers presents us with some possibilities as well.

Neither :(

I'd prefer Chambers who at least should have some improvement left in him. If Street survives the chop at the end of the year I'll be mightily ****ed off but seeing though he played a good game on the weekend he will probably end up with yet another contract.

On that thought, about Henry Playfair... regarding what I said earlier....

And well into the future, for that matter, as well.

Chambers is younger, works harder, is stronger and isn't a liabilty around the ground.

I think he wins out marginally ;)

H is a better ruckman then both of them, hell, i'd go so far as to say he's the best centre bounce ruckman on our list.

Well we had a perfect opportunity to try this on the weekend and didn't, so perhaps the coaching staff want to give both Street and Chambers every opportunity to prove they're still worthy of a spot on our list next season.

Playfair should most definately remain on our list.

After what I saw on Saturday night, Paul Chambers is a much better option for us in the ruck and around the ground then Peter Street.

Anyone notice that whenever Street got a hit out the other night, less then half went to our players??

Why does it take so long for people to realise what a hack Street is?

Well it's taken Geelong 5 years, but I think they realise who is the better prospect and that's why we have seen more of Chambers in the team this year.

Street's days are numbered at Geelong. I am fairly confident we'll trade him at the end of the season, the only question as far as I'm concerned is who we'll trade him to and what we'll get for him.

Steven King's record isn't much better. It is one of our major weaknesses, the fact that we don't get the hitouts to a teammate.

Street is useless around the ground and once he contests the ruck just stands there disinterested. Paul Chambers puts in 100% all the time and we want players like that at the club.

Interesting to see the coaching staff agrees with us for once! (based on tonight's team). Chambers the main man, no Mooney and no Street, good luck Sarge.

Nothing. No one will want him, it's that simple.

John Barnes has said on Fox League teams that he would love to have Street at Essendon and can't believe he's not a regular at Geelong.

I'll bet my first beer tomorrow night on Street coming in to replace Harley.

I hope you're wrong about that mate, but it wouldn't surprise me knowing our track record of making late changes to the selected side this season.
