Just finished his biography.
Absoloutly amazing character who makes you wonder how he would go with todays boom in poker.
Won three WSOP main events including back to back titles. A feat that will never be repeated.
His best game was not even poker. He was the self described Michael Jordan of gin.
At age 16 he took on the best player in the US head to head and beat him 21 games straight !!!!!!
Unfortunately because he was so dominant he very rarely played but when he did he used to give world ranked opposition a free card and still spank them.
The stories of his sports betting with Doyle Brunson are great. I have a new found respect for Brunson after reading the book.
Unfortunately Unger had no discipline outside the card tables and basically squandered all his winnings on drugs, sports betting and the racetrack.
He was found dead of an overdose at age 45 virtually penniless.
