Try studying with music without words. That's what I do when I'm studying and it's great. It keeps my mind sane without the urge to focus on those words instead of those in my book.

I remember when I was at school (back in the good old days, cranky old bastard that I am lol ), we saw some report about backmasking subliminal messages in songs.
A couple of delinquent bogans in my year at school had a rock band that languished in total obscurity forever, and they tried recording some songs. So we got them to put "8 electrons in the outer shell" backwards into one of their songs.
It must have worked, because all these years later I can still remember that. It's the only thing from HSC chemistry I can still remember.

Or your chemistry teacher says it so often that you can't help but remember it....

although, technically, it should be 8 electrons in a stable outer shell.... and really, by that stage, you should be calling it the valence shell *groans*

I used to study either at 3am that way noones yelling and screaming and everyones just in bed asleep so u get piece and quiet. Or i would read through everything in bed then also skim through it all quickly the morning of the exam. Worked kinda well would muck around in class non stop then when it came to exam time just learn the whole years work the night before
