The score in some ways was always secondary tonight IMO and coming away with a win was a happy bonus. But i thought the input of the young blokes is the thing that left me smiling at the end of the game. All of them contributed in some way and showed some very nice signs for the future.

Just hope that sheeds continues the youth policy and sticks with them for the rest of the year. We will cop some beatings no doubt with a young team but also hopefully grab another win or two. Finding players for the future should be our major focus and im pretty confident we've found several.

The number of dumbarses on this site who say we have the worst bunch of kids:

Dyson, Monfries, Bradley, Stanton, Slattery

I'll take our kids anyday.

I hope Cupido realises he is being overtaken by the likes of those mentioned above.

Looked more lost out there than Tarrant. Didnt matter on the scoreboard - they both cancelled each other out

I though Cupido tried to play a more inside game tonight, which was pleasing and something he hasn't done a whole lot of. In a game where we prided ourselves on our tackling, he lead our tackle count.

I love seeing Cupes get the ball between half back and the wing, because 9 times out of 10 it means we will end up shooting at goal. Just so dangerous. Just got to leave the bloke in the side, his role isn't threatened by Nash, Dyson and co. It's threatened purely by himself.

I thought Cupes efforts were good. It was his willingness to work that impressed me, the tackles and the fighting for the ball in close. He's having to change his game quite dramatically at the moment.

Really happy with ALL the kids tonight, especially Dyson. Not as much Stanton because we already know what hes capable of and he just re-inforced the fact. Winders looked quick - Kepler I think played his best game for the club, sensational. Good signs for the future.

Pity about the lst quarter.

One good thing i noticed looking at the paper this morn was that every player played at least half the game, and most of the young guys played at least 3/4's. Very good use of the interchange last night.

What about Keps ? He could be another Jim Stynes if he played his career in the ruck.

I must admit I was first to jump on the bandwagon and bag sheedy when we were down, but I think he is starting to get it right this season. We are out of the finals, time to start developing the kids for next year. Time to give Murphy a rest, I think he is past it, let Hirdy have a few weeks off so he is right to go next year, and rest some of the experienced players that are suffering injuries.

It might not be next year, but we will be back on top soon

I agree completely. No doubt his confidence is down at the moment and he needs a solid month of senior footy. Dropping him now may finish him and his performance last night doesnt warrant getting the arse. He uses the ball beautifully and he has some speed to boot. As his confidence and fitness level rises so will his performances and i want those performances to be in a red and black jumper.

Some better signs for bombers and no doubt some of your youngster will be ok ...

down get to carried away though, pies were woeful ...

see how your youngsters follow it up next week ....

I reckon we'll get pumped by a rampaging brisbane. But the kids will learn from it. Id rather get beaten with a young side than get done with a team of experienced players, half of which arent up to AFL level.

Why would Sheedy say in his three quarter time address "we are fielding one of our youngest sides ever and this could one of the clubs greatest victories"?

That's according to the channel nine boundary aficionado. Isn't that congratulating them a bit early. If the game was in the balance I could understand it.

Seemed strange an unSheedy like to me.

I disagree. I would have thought it would have spurred them on even more to really finish the game off.

Well it didn't. Had the affect of making them think they were further advanced than what they are would be my interpretation. He usually keeps the lid on a bit better than that.

That's assuming that his speech was the reason for the fadeout.

You can bet your bottom dollar it wasn't a pre-mature congratulation either, more in the way of a keep this up boys, one more quarter, we're on the verge of a great win yadda - paraphrased or edited by the boundary rider.

Standard coaching issue I would have thought

When the game wasn't in the balance didn't make sense to me. But anyway, have faith in the coach.

The other thing to consider is that the boundary rider just may have made it up completely, that does happen I believe.

Aint that the truth..i remember dipper when he was at seven being 40-50 metres from either huddle. How he heard anything is beyond me and he did later admit to making it all up anyway.
