This is basically my dream.

When im on the train, looking out the window, I imagine a little Mario running over buildings, fences, etc, and jumping over the gaps between them.

Will play.

This is just out of curiosity. Has Sega attempted this with Sonic officially?

Mario-wise, I'll give it a crack out of novelty but can't see myself investing too much time.
I'm pretty sure they released a Sonic endless runner type game on ios.

Hmmm not sure Mario is the sort of game that translates well to an in app purchase model like Pokemon has.

Prefer this to be a paid app at a decent price IMO.

Will piss and moan and still get day 1 probably.

Pretty sure this is a paid app. Not sure what in app purchases they are tacking onto it though.

Yeah hopefully if they do, substantial meaty DLC level packs would be good.

Seems an incredibly silly decision. In my quick 1 second search it appears android has 80%+ market share compared to 12% iOS.

Apple would be throwing good money at Nintendo for this, timed or platform exclusive.......for a mobile game, it makes no sense not to hit the bigger market as well.

Although to be fair when/if it comes to Android most will just download the apk file for free.

Not to mention that the Asian market belongs to Android.

I must admit it looks much better than when I first heard about the concept.
