Hey all...

I've got a phone that uses the Android OS (the HTC Hero) and it looks like the normal browser doesn't handle the SuperCoach site very well as I don't seem to be able to do trades or substitutions through it. I was wondering if anyone else who uses an Android phone has managed to find a way to trade/substitute from it, whether it's a different browser, app, or whatever.

I suggest getting an iPhone :p

That's the annoying thing... I've got an iPod Touch w/ the official app, but I don't have wifi at work to use it on. :(

Yeah, unfortunately the site doesn't work very well in Opera Mini because the site's all script-based but Opera Mini doesn't handle that very well (because in effect it's just sending a picture of the site's content, the actual rendering is done on Opera's servers).

I tried!!
interesting, send opera an email with heraldsun's website and ask them to see what they can do.....I have a sneaking feeling theyre doing their best to get apple to buy the company as opera mini works perfectly(apparently) even so they may still be able to help as they pride themselves on total web browsing via a mobile.

luck

You're just not going to get a good mobile experience because the site's built in Flash. On Android, the Flash will render, but Adobe has not managed to really incorporate touchscreen technology into it's architecture (poor foresight from Adobe). Opera Mini also won't work because it essentially uses a proxy server to re-render the site, and anything outside browsing content is always going to be very dodgy.

Apple just hates Flash, because it's not built for touchscreens, it's a battery hog and causes browser crashes - so it won't be on any of their mobile platforms (iPod, iPhone and iPad). The HUN worked this out early this year and made an iPhone app instead which is excellent (kudos for the foresight).

Flash is a dying technology. Unfortunately, you'll have to hope that they build an Android app to work on HTCs (or get an iPhone)

Cheers, Flash would explain it. I tried a few other browsers and each had the problem that they could display it fine (Opera Mini was actually the worst in that it didn't display the player names) but if I attempted a substitution or trade either nothing happened or I got dumped back to the log-in page.

Might try setting up an ad-hoc network on my work PC and connecting my iPod Touch to that and use the SC app.

I think we'll have to wait until they release the client(s) for this year. Given Android phones have become a lot more visible over the last year, with all the telecoms offering them now as opposed to none a year ago, there could be some reason to hold out hope.

Bump! (Again) anyone heard anything on an android app for this season? I note that there has been no iphone app released yet and funnily enough the NRL supercoach does have one? hmmm

Can you make a wireless access point with your android phone and then get the iPod touch using that WiFi a pain but better than the pain of your captain getting a zero due to pulling out late friday night.

I doubt there will be an Android app, it's an Australian game and Australia is always light years behind other countries with technology.

Can now, couldn't back then (new phone, new Android version that actually supports that). The original post was two years ago.

There's been plenty of rumours about there being one this year, and there's an Android app for the NRL SC. I wouldn't be surprised to see one released before the season starts, but I bet it's not going to be free.

App now available at the Market Place for $2.99. Dream Team one released as well for free.

I downloaded it on Android , logged me into someone else's team. Plus the app needs a lot of work on it. Is way to big for the screen. Even on a galaxy nexus

EDIT: Log in issues have been fixed with an update, Still to big for the screen though, hope it's gets an update for that. Or at least to make the screen rotate.

At least they've got one out now for all you Android users.
They fixed a few bugs on the main site promptly so they should do the same with the apps hopefully.

As a side note, the iPhone one is also out for $2.99.

I don't think $3 a year is going to break anyone's budget for the convenience of having "user friendly" access on your phone... Just my opinion...

Why on earth do they place ads on a paid app? Under no circumstances will I buy an app with ads. Just pure greed.

The thing is, the majority of the app is a 'web view' which means it's rendered through the safari browser.

They could get a very similar version of their app working in the browser if they wanted.

Paying $3 for an app that displays ads is nothing but greed, and very typical of the Herald Sun

Its a big piece of dog ****,
doesnt resize,
doesnt zoom,
has adds on a paid app.

I just got an update for it and the update crashes the app completely.

I have a samsung nexus with ICS
