Not sure if many people have looked at this, but the Herald Sun Supercoach points scoring has changed a little...

Might be worth considering before you select your side...

Effective kick 4 Points
Ineffective kick 0 Points
Clanger kick -8 Points
Handball effective 2 Points
Ineffective handball 0 Points
Handball clanger -6 Points
Handball receive 1 Point
Hardball get 4 Points
Loose-ball get 4 Points
Goal 8 Points
Behind 1 Point
Mark uncontested (maintaining possession) 1 Point
Mark contested (maintaining possession) 6 Points
Mark uncontested (from opposition) 4 Points
Mark contested (from opposition) 8 Points
Tackles 4 Points
Free kick for 4 Points
Free kick against -6 Points
Hitout to Advantage 3 Points

I'm thinking I need to load up on in-and-under ball magnets in the midfield, and contested mark winning backmen.

Thoughts?

Sorry guys, I don't remember the Hard Ball/Loose Ball gets and Marks off opposition disposals being scored that way.

My bad.

Good luck to all! :)

You might be right.
It used to be contested mark (keeping possesion) 4 points.

And I dont remember hard ball loose ball get either.

Good find if right.

Adding fuel to my long-held "SC scoring is wishy-washy" belief, some quotes taken from the 2007 Prospectus.....

"Champion Data's rankings have evolved over the last ten years''
How they tally points changes from year to year - meaning a 140-point performance in 2005 may only equate to a 120-point game in 2008, not really comparing oranges with oranges.

"These values have evolved over the years as more research has been completed"
As above - kinda making things up as they go along, what happens when free-flowing, attacking play (circa early 90's Geelong) becomes the norm, will their numbers ''evolve'' (read change) once again?

''In 2005 the rankings introduced weightings depending on proximity to goal and to the state of play in the game''
In theory, your contested mark in the centre circle and your contested mark inside 50m don't have the same value anymore, do they?

They then go on to give an example about Adam Goodes in the 2005 GF, who in one passage of play earned 13 points (handball receive, long kick, goal), which was then backfitted post-match and given a 45% ''state-of-play'' bonus.

Too much guess-work for mine. I'll admit, SC does seem to better reward quality over quantity, but give me DT anyday - where a stat is a stat is a stat.
