I bought my first Katana, a 750, in 1983 from Mick Hone in Box Hill. I kept it for two years before passing it to my best mate who just didn't appreciate it.
I've another now, and am sorry to say that I have to sell it due to the impending marriage of my daughter. It's an 1100, the REAL and original (the first was the original, but with the baby engine).
God, I love these bikes. The only Jap bikes worth a crumpet IMHO, with the exception of perhaps the first 900cc Kwaka and the original RB1100 Honda (you know the one).
The Kat still draws oohs and aaahs, more than 20 years on. The love affair of my life (don't tell Mrs B2), and I promise one day I'll own another.
Does anyone know what I'm talking about, or own one? Or care ......
