Phew. Fans of Stan Van Gundy can finally come down from threat level red and rest easy because he finally has a coaching home: the Sacramento Kings. Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel has been on the case and found that Gundy's around Sactown and likely to sign on.

Haus brothah TZ brought up earlier today that Pat Riley is pretty much devil incarnate for orchastrating Stan's relocation and I couldn't agree more.

Riles basically forced SVG out of his precious (re: weak) Southeast division by asking for compensation that clearly Orlando could not meet (just like he did to Jeff Bzdelik, another "protege" when he wanted to coach in Charlotte).

Good thing Sacramento's far away huh, way to go Pat Riley. There's a reason why I cropped Stan's picture tight: the knife is still stuck in his back.

Pat Riley is a GUN! :D :thumbsu:

Nothing official yet but Maloofs sent a private jet over to Miami and brought Ron Jeremy and his wife to Sacramento so they can get to see the area. This is usually a sign that they are about to offer a contract.

I expect to know tommorow, either way but I like our chances a lot better than I did last night.

This would be a great signing by the Kings. A good ownership group, one of the best GMs in the league and now a very good coach who just happens to look like a pr0n star :D

I will jump for joy when I see a press conference with Goeff Petrie, Stan Van Gundy and the Maloofs making the announcement official. Until then I am quietly confident :)

now you just need to get it done on the court

trade Bibby + Artest + draft picks for a great pick/offensive Power Forward

Then try and sign Billups and/or R.Lewis and things should be good for the queens :p

Well the Magic are totally screwed now.

P.J Carlesmino is probably going to be the guy and I don't think that exites ANYONE to be frank, unless he can somehow turn to Magic into the Spurs version of the East (unless one of his players chokes him out 1st).

Great signing for the Kings if true, but Pat Riley just became public enemy #1 in Orlando for this (well maybe #2 after Billy Donovan).

FTW! :D Welcome to the clan Ron Jeremy!

You know how calm and measured Goeff Petrie is so its a real surprise that the great man gets hot under the collar. Well he is one pissed of chappy with SVG. We just got Billy Donovan'ed by SVG but without the contract.

SVG gave every indication to GP that he will be signing with the Kings, hence the Maloofs chartering a private jet to get Stan and his wife to Sacramento, rented a car for them to get familiar with the place only for the pornstar to sign a contract and fax it to the Magic while he was still in Sacramento. In other words he strung us along so he would get the Magic to resolve the Donovan matter ASAP and he could get that job. Bloody ordinary, I reckon.

As for the new coach, Patrie said that he will consider giving second interviews to the rest of the candidates (only Kurt Rambis and SVG had 2nd interviews with the Kings from the initial group) and will possibly add other candidates to that group.

Word is that Petrie is keen on Porter but Maloofs are a bit iffy because of the Adelman connection. PJ could be another candidate but he is a failed coach who has a reputation as not being able to deal with big egos and since this is the players league, I don't think he should be anywhere near the job IMHO.

As for Carlisle, **** NO!!!! A good coach no doubt BUT he is a micro-manager like Musselman (albeit a better coach) and since Artest is still on the roster, I very much doubt there will be a reunion.

So if I was a betting man, I think someone like Rambis, Brooks (our assistant) and Porter would be favourites at this stage.

Stiffy what was Elson Turner like as an assistant, has just accepted a job with Houston

Houston Rockets Former Sacramento Kings assistant coach Elston Turner tells FOX 26 he has decided to withdraw from consideration for the Kings head coaching job and accept a position as an assistant on Rick Adelman's staff with the Houston Rockets.

Turner was one of six candidates interviewed for the Sacramento head coaching job last month but no decision has been reached by the Kings.

"I just chose to get on with Rick," Turner told FOX 26. "I thought it was unfair to keep Rick waiting while he was trying to assemble his staff. So I made my decision to come with him."

Turner says he has yet to sign his Rockets contract but considers that a formality.

"We just have to work out the deal and that will be the icing on the cake," Turner said.

Turner was an assistant to Adelman in Sacramento for six years. When Adelman was introduced as the Rockets head coach he said then Turner was his No. 1 choice to join his staff.

"I know what he likes and what he he expects, " Turner said. "I am confident I can give him that. We can do some good things there that will not only excite the team and the organization but the fans as well.

"I feel great about it. In my opinion, out of all the jobs that were available, this is the best one."

Turner believes he has a lot to offer the Rockets organization.

"Work ethic for sure," Turner said. "I'm precise and meticulous. I believe in being prepared and paying attention to detail. I have been involved with the NBA since 1981. I will be able to bring insight and leadership."

Turner was an assistant coach for the CBA's Quad City Thunder and a player-coach with the league's Chicago Rockers before going to work for the Portland Trail Blazers. He worked in Portland for four years before joning Adelman and the Kings in 2001.

Turner, a 6-5 guard, played eight NBA seasons in the NBA, three with Dallas, three with Denver and two with Chicago. He averaged 4.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 505 career games in the NBA.

Dallas chose Turner in the second round of the 1981 NBA Draft. As a senior at Ole Miss, he led the Rebels to their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 1981.

Rockets officials could not be reached for comment Friday night.

Great assistant under Adelman :thumbsu:

Has been our #1 assistant under Adelman for year and is defensively oriented. He was interviewed for the Kings job this year as well and Adelman is a huge rap for Elston. He even endorsed him as his replacement for the Kings last year but Maloofs always seem to **** up lately.

The biggest mistakes the franchise has ever made was not re-signing Adelman at the end of last season. And we are still paying for it to this very day
