Injuries, age and care factor were all responsible for the slump, get two of them right and he'll still have plenty to offer.

Swan > Beams in so many ways, but it's just a question of whether Swanny can get back to being that player he was before the injury problems hit late in 2013.

It seems we are managing him well this time around, no real football training till after the new year, but that means he will still have a good 3 full months of training before the delayed season starts.

A fit Dane Swan takes us from a side that may make the 8, to a side that will make it for sure.

Nup.
Too old.
Too slow.
Can't kick.
Doesn't run both ways.
Our new recruits are better.
Hates Buckley.
Sack him.

Am I doing this right.:p

Just go and talk to your dad Swanny. Some of Billy's best footy was after he turned 30+
You've got nothing to prove anyway Swanny, loved to hear you say "whatever little bit of knowledge I might have"..... Swanny would know more about getting a kick than any ten of these new kids.

C'mon Mark.
You know we get rid of the Buckley haters before entertaining getting rid of Bucks.

P.s: I really hope all your Buckley hate comes back and bites you on your arse.

Appreciate this man while he is still playing, friends. This bloke WILL be missed when he retires.

I don't think it will just be us Pies supporters.
Nearly every person I know loves Swanny and his laid back attitude.
Can't think of anyone else that comes close to his sense of humour and attitude off the field.

Disagree about the care factor. Swan may look disinterested much of the time, but he is a proud guy, and would have been disappointed that he wasn't able to play his best footy this year, regardless of injury.

I'm not convinced his age is a factor yet either. If there's one player on our list I'd back to play good footy till his mid 30's it would be swanny.

I got talking to one of Swans good mates on the piss not long ago I always get worried that Swan doesn't enjoy his time at the club but I was reassured that he is extremely happy at the club at the moment.

He had a massive break last year which led to him coming back out of shape glad he knows he can't come back fit and firing after a 6 week party trip.

Maybe Ben Johnson, Taz etc from personal experience post footy had a word with Swan and told him to enjoy his footy because once its over, its over. He seems to be on a mission!

BJ works at the club and every time you hear Taz talk he is so passionate he should be in the membership department

Care factor doesn't need to drop off all that much to have an effect on performance, to me it looked like he turned it on the odd occasion but certainly didn't bust the gut like in '10/11 seasons.
Don't think it's a coincidence his best performance of the last few years came on ANZAC Day...
And the age mainly manifests itself in aches and pains that have undoubtedly effected his recent output.

Yep Swanny our modern day great. Think he has been written off prematurely. After 5 AA seasons he was allowed a down one. We forget he is a machine and can rip out another elite season almost at will. He will make a big difference in 2015 as will Trav and Reid. That is almost our biggest area of improvement which is ironic.

He's definitely got an air of nonchalance, old Swanny, but he cares.

Can't wait to see him back on his feet in 2015 and even if this is his last crack at it I'll be grateful for every game he gives us.

We love you Swanny, you've done us proud. Don't change a thing.

Would love to see him in a media type role one day, I know it doesn't sound like his bag but how entertaining would he be!?
