That's a real credit to them. They always seem strong from what I can gather. Maybe they get a little overflow from the area towards the Mount.

A-grade league looks like it was somewhat decent this year, 6 out of 8 teams getting amongst the wins. Top of the table clash to finish out the season too! Plenty riding on it since they appear to have a final 5 which always makes me laugh in an 8 team comp but whatever works for them. 5th spot is still up for grabs too as 5th are playing 6th !!!
yeah even people from the mount play for them, Ive considered it but i know a lot of people who do

Which players were ineligible? All looks in order on playhq at least?
No idea. There is an article about it behind a pay wall on FB but I cant find it

Your league must have different bylaws than everywhere else. Most leagues have the rule that if your senior team is playing on the same weekend as the reserves then if you’re not picked in the seniors you can play twos regardless of wether you played the minimum reserve games during the year. It’s common sense.

Good confidence boosting win by the Maroons on the weekend. Get to have another crack at Cavendish on Sat. Should be a real good contest.
Congrat's to Cavendish ... did anyone get out there? Looked like a pretty dour affair until 3/4 time  Looks like Dartmoor might have kicked themselves out of it in the 3rd qtr although there might have been a few rushed behinds in there I suppose.

I was there. Huge upset. Decent wind in play Darty could never really get going. Was an average spectacle tbh.

Cavendish pressure was relentless for at least the first 3.5 quarters and they played smart footy keeping possession, controlling the ball and working as a cohesive group. Meant Dartmoor could never get running game going and always seemed on back foot.

Darty ended up losing it - had one guy sent off for throwing a B Hall roundhouse at one stage and they triggered another punch on late. They were shattered after the siren. Pressure of expectation might have gotten to them.

Dartmoor losing GF > Tyrendarra losing GF ;)

Nice report. Here is another one:

Munners is a bit of legend. I might have know he would be there.

Thanks for sharing! RudyCt I've also made another video on the day as a whole. Cavendish handled the day very well, my impression was that Darty were thrown off without Howlett, lots of long shots at goal.

Yeah saw that one ... you've done well.

I really liked the look of Melville Oval after the redevelopment and it looked like a decent crowd from some of those shots. Interesting choice of a neutral venue as noted but no faulting the ground itself compared to some of the grounds down that way. Different league, but I was watching a Hampden league final last weekend (the Portland game) and I don't know where it was, but it was an absolute cow paddock .

Bit of a slope to Melville Oval but it's the ideal ground for a big game, close to the fast food restaurants as well. The Hampden league has some pretty wet decks, that Portland game was at Koroit which was muddy enough when I went there a month ago.

The clubrooms at Melville Oval aren't all that big though, I guess they had to give up space for the netball.

From memory the SWDFNL GF is hosted by a different club each year, normally in alphabetical order. The hosts 'pick' the venue, which is usually 50/50 between Melville Oval or Hanlon Park. Although Dartmoor have talked about hosting a grand final at their home ground too, but I can't think of it happening in the past 10 years.

dartmoor is good for viewing the game on the hills they have. They’d struggle with the amount of cars.

Big signing for Darty with Mid South East legendary ruckman, Will MacDonald joining. Also got the former Port Mac coach Josh Woodall.

What the hell has happened to the junior league? If the league was full of the previous Hamilton Portland merged league where have they all gone. Only so many spots available for Hamilton and portlands hampden sides. Can’t imagine they’ve gone to mininera league

Clubs were reliant on season permits to allow kids to play SW and Hampden league but now they can only get one game permits. I think this is the biggest issue.
If they went back to a separate junior league then I'm not sure how guys can become one point players when the few of them graduate to seniors.
