here is my team for the sydney game.

b.welsh,fletcher,soloman
h.b.nlm,mcphee,cole
c,dyson,watson,stanton
hf.campo,lucas,hird
f.angus,johns,lovett
foll.hille,peverill,jj
inter,bolton,mj,bradley,mcveigh.

in.johns,nlm
out.nash(very unlucky),reynolds

IN - Heffernan or Dempsey.
OUT - Reynolds.

Forward line worked well enough not to make Johns earn his spot and given we are playing at the SCG, there may not actually be room for the bloke.

We got enough run from the backline to make NLM earn his spot.

Is Lovett fit?

oh sorry! i thought we were at telstra staduim, so yes i guess you are right about courtney then. nash can hold his spot then.
i think lovett will be right.
one thing i would like to see though is on sat night in the centre we don't play with 3 taggers in there like we did against brissy! i reckon we need at least one bloke who isn't worried about his opponent in there.

I don't think Sydney actually have three midfielders to tag, they are more likely to do that to us. Most of their midfielders are the working class type.

Our tags worked on Sat night, not so much while the tags were operating but because when those being tagged went to the bench and their taggers went with them, we had the likes of JJ, Campo, Stanton etc running around on their kids and we were able to exploit that.

Dempsey may be the right option in the midfield this week, Sydney have a good midfield but don't really have a huge amount of pace through there. Most of their run comes from half back.

Dempsey played as well as Heff on Saturday, might as well go with youth on this one

Guess it depends which way we go.

If we are going to try and combat Sydney at their own game and look to utilise the runners already in the side (Dyson, Stanton, Nash etc), then we'd probably go with Heff or even Jolley/Lonergan for that matter. Because the more contested ball winners the better.

If we are going to try and exploit them for pace, then Demspey would probably get the nod. Dempsey looks to be playing with some confidence, I wouldn't be suprised if he played purely because we drafted him with the pick Sydney gave us for Ted.

Do we try and open the game up and hope our defence can play well enough if our forwards have another good game or do we play a slow low scoring game with the Swans and hope we get the goals when it counts and maybe hold on for a win?

Although if we play a slow game and we struggle to contain Hall we still may not keep up with them

I think that Johns could actually be handy in a congested forward line.... He is a player that can take pack marks, and if not, at least bring the ball to ground.

It would be good to have a player that can take strong marks in a congested forward line. It may not be ideallic for him, but if we can move the ball quickly and kick long then he could get some one outs in the square and bring the ball to ground for the likes of Hird etc...

Showers predicted in Sydney, Thursday -> Saturday.

With that in mind it would be hard to choose Johns for this game.

Out : Reynolds (when he didn't make the distance from 40m out on Saturday night he surely confirmed his delisting destiny. There is no reason to pick him again this year.)
In : NLM

Slattery might be a chance if its really wet.

Then again, it could be a day out for the big fella if they only had Richards on him. Did he play for Bendigo on the weekend?

Agree. Lost faith in Reynolds.

Though i wouldn't be fussed if Heffernan, Dempsey or Jolley came in instead. I'd be concerned about Dempsey getting muscled off the footy too easy and it's not easy to find space on that ground, but he looks more likely to do something special than Heff or Jolley, though i think NLM has him covered.
