The Swans were 2-4 after 6 matches last year before starting on a winning run to the flag, so it seems they are slow starters. Suppose you only have to be good at one time of the year as a couple of sides may find out later on. Whether the same thing happens this year, well only time will tell

It will but if the last few years are anything to go by :

2004 : Round 8 3W 5L Finish 6
2003 : Round 4 1W 3L Finish 4
2002 : Round 10 3W 6L 1D Finish 11
2001 : Round 8 3W 5L Finish 7
2000 : Round 8 3W 5L Finish 10 (identical to 2001 3 1st up wins then 5 losses in a row)

So that's 4 finals appearances (including two top 4's) despite ********house starts to the season, in the last 6 years.
So come back to us at Round 10, if we are 4 and 6 or better I'd still rate us a good chance, any worse will be tough.

The problem with being a successful underdog for a long period of time is that eventually you just begin to expect to win from ridiculous positions...so you let the opposition get the lead, and you don't make it.

This is exactly what everyone around me was thinking yesterday. They kept referring this game to the Geelong semi final, to which I replied "But we actually came back against Geelong".

Yes,OK we did come back yesterday as well, but cannot expect to constantly play in the lethargic disinterested manor we did in the 1st & 2nd quarters and expect to seriously come back every week. We HAVE seriously come from the clouds in years gone by (2005 vs Richmond, St Kilda Adelaide of course Brisbane in Round 3).

Everyone is now just expecting that when we fall behind we can peg them back. With the new rules (and the fact that every team besides us appears to be exploiting them) scores are far far higher than last year. Last year we could get away with it because even if we played like ********e we would often be only under 5 goals down. Now we are 9 goals down.

I'm worried about things now. Teams ARE lifting their game appreciably to play us. Hopefully from a Swans perspective Carlton will be flat after the flight home from Perth & tough game against Freo. Sydney just HAS to win this weekend!

I don't know why people are analysing this so much- it is two games into the season. If they are 0-5 or 1-4 after 5 rounds, then start talking about it
