Give Bracken a run :D

(EDIT: To get away from NSW bias, I said bring in Bracken for Harvey, and Hauitz for Hogg against Kenya, give Hogg a rest ...)

I think for the Australia V Kenya game we should play both Symonds (if fit) and Harvey. Let them know that their performances in this game will decide who will be the number 1 allrounder.

Then let them both open the bowling with the new ball, both open the batting and let them choose where they want to field. The result of the game doesn't matter and I can't see Kenya causing us any problems.

Also give Hauritz a game and atleast do something on the tour to earn his pay apart from bowling in the nets.

And what has Harvey done to earn a spot?

His bowling has been excellent, 6 overs for 3 maidens and just 11 runs conceded (Which 8 were from edges) on Tuesday. The Kiwis couldn't play him on the Port Elizabeth pitch. He could have had Fleming out had he got some luck and his tight bowling brought Lou Vincent's downfall.

Considering we will be back at Port Eliz. and the fact the pitch suits Harvs' bowling would be the main factor.

essentially he has to be picked as a specialist bowler if they continue to pick him. there is no question he has been left hopelessly wanting in the batting dept. there is no justification from what ive seen that he is an allrounder, which means you can bowl AND bat

True he didn't look too good against Bond but he wasn't alone there! His only other two innings in the tournament were a quick 24 and 5no so I don't think he should be judged on one innings. In any event you pick your best team for the conditions and I think that would mean Symonds,if fit, for Harvey.

Taking out the first match has Symmonds really done anything this tour? because I can only think of one innings in 12 months and that is not form to select someone,

v pakis 143no
v nami 59
v eng 0

average 101.00

past 12 months mean nothing , it is present form that counts and he has made most of limited oppuntity so far

Hey i'm sick of people posting averages to surport who is the better player. You pick Harvey as he is the better bowler and we do need them. Symonds can't bowl and he will get slaughted so pick Harvey.

Batting well Symonds is better but we don't need a batsman.
Hayden, Gilchrist, ricky, Marto, bevo, boof, Freak and bichale do we really need another batsman.

He has had very limited opportunities with the bat i think he has had 2 innings' and 1 of them he came in with very few overs to go meaning he had to go for it straight away.
So IMO u have to pick Harvey.

Gotta go with Symonds for mine. Harvey's lost all confidence with the bat & his bowling has been nothing more than handy. Harv's is the better bowler but Symonds batting gives him the edge.

So he has one bad innings, as did Matthew Hayden, Ricky Ponting, (Both have done very little the whole tournament) and Darren Lehmann. Are we going to drop them too? They are the specialist batsmen, Harvey isn't.

We will be playing on a bowlers wicket not a batsmens wicket, surely this gives Harvey the edge?

I love "The Freak" but his batting is laughable i'd only pick him if he batted AFTER Hogg, Bichel & Lee. Which makes him a no.10 Medium pacer, sorry no dice!

It's his last chance though & it's only Kenya but why not pick Bracken or Hauritz? They deserve a go as much as Harvs does. Bracken's the smokey, Bowlers pitch, variety with his left armers & his batting's been no worse than Harvey's of late...

The game's against England and NZ has shown that we DO need another batsmen.

Our batting is vunerable at the moment.

Harvey is a complete waste of space as a batsman. McGrath looked better batting against New Zealand. Harvey is a half-decent one-day medium pacer, but not one deserving of a spot in the world's premier team.
