Wowee.

Goddard (1), Watson (4), Heppell (1), Zaharakis (0)

They had about 110 disposals between them though

We got smashed in the tackle count yesterday.

Nice bit of bruise free footy :thumbsu:

It's alarming. We started the year tackling well.

Kommer and hocking has 7 each, i think the next best was 4.

We need to raise the defensive pressure. We are getting a bit down hill skier about us

Zero tackles for someone who predominately played in the defensive half of the ground is unacceptable.

Zaka's inconsistency is starting to shit me. There's a very large gap between his best and worst footy.

He struggled last year when teams put work into him, we have two players who really struggle when focused on in zaka and Stanton.

When two blokes get 14 tackles between them, and then the next highest tackle from an individual is 4 shows a lack of desire. We have halved our tackles from the start of the year. There has been a direct correlation with this and our form.

We need to aim at doubling our tackle count across the ground next week.

We may be in with a chance if we do. Our opponents next week haven't been notorious this year either for their fierce tackling/attack on the ball.

This is where Davey was sorely lacking he applies so many tackles, pressure and even perceived pressure onto opponents!

Zaka's inconsistency is starting to shit me. There's a very large gap between his best and worst footy.

His worst games normally coincides with when he has to win his own football. Also, he his very ordinary below his knee's, both in traffic and in space. On many occasions fumbles or completely overruns the football.

Zacka was noticeably frustrated. Not for the first time I have seen him waving his arms around and looking pissed off. It's like he demands more of his team mates than he demands of himself. He looked slow and lazy today and kept reverting back to having a go at his team mates. Also, next time you watch a game at the ground, watch Heppell counting the number of players in both half for a centre square start, you can tell it is his job to set up the team outside of the centre square.

It's not a personnel issue.

It started during the GWS game, happened once we got a few goals up during the Geelong game, and continued against Brisbane.

It's 100% attitude, and it's frustrating.

We showed over the first six weeks that we could do it, and we were doing it better than anyone, other than maybe Fremantle.

It's no coincidence that we've suddenly started conceding higher scores recently, including 80 against GWS.

If we get back to defending how we were in rounds 1-6, we'll beat most sides. If we keep this shit up, we'll lose to most sides, starting against Richmond.

Agree to an extent. I also think it's happening in the coaches box - resting guys like Myers, Heppell, Howlett, Hocking, etc if not outright than with giving them the sub position. Not playing Ryder is a biggest joke out. I don't know what the **** Hird and co were thinking with that one.

The fish rots from the head. If the coaches think we're good enough without giving it 100% then it's not a massive surprise if it filters down to the players and they think they can also fart about.

Leadership was shithouse too. Worst thing in the game was when Winderlich passed back to Crameri instead of taking his shot. A senior player, who is in a good position and is a good kick, passing back to a guy who is hit and miss, especially from short range, in a worse position and a little further out.

Watson and Stanton took their shots, even if they missed.

Meanwhile every flog, Heppell, Zaha, Goddard, is running around the back looking for the handpass rather than running harder up the field to provide an option. Heppell and Zaha are slowing to a crawl as soon as their man gets half a yard on them, etc etc.

It reeks of arrogance and it's very disappointing. I hope we get a proper response this weekend.

Locked thread, nothing more needs to be said.

"Fish rots from the head"

Sums up the problem.. too many ins and outs.. too much stuffing around with 'resting' and 'rotation' rather than going out and burying whatever opposition was in front of us. Too cavalier and sloppy and expecting it to just 'happen' rather than making it happen. Seem like they all worked as 1 unit in rounds 1-6 and were proud to be a defensive team.. now it appears like we couldn't give a rats ass..

Surely you can talk to Cricket Australia about how the rotation policy has helped our bowlers....

Stop stuffing around.. pick our best 21, put our 22 (or most versatile) man as sub and lets get back to it.

We can start resting blokes in round 19-22 if required once we have locked up a top 4 spot.

Thankfully we have only lost one 'winnable/expected' game and if we can snap back against the tig's this week it will be no harm, no foul.

Yep, no desperation, desire or intent to hunt the opposition in possession, and there were period where we looked as helpless as Melbourne did against us - stagnant as Brisbane hit up opponents in the gaps with the Bomber trailing him in.

Skill and execution of match plans is one thing, but intensity is a non-negotiable. It must be brought.

I've been saying this about some of our players for years now.

Some of them have disgraceful attitudes and want to be 100% in the lime light or they don't give a ****

Stanton is targeted every week.
