Is this a serious question?
Yeah. Also it always amuses me that people when talking about AFL characterise Sydney as an expensive shithole. Sure, on median income, it is. But throw over a third of a million per year at a tall athletic man in his 20s and tell him to pick between Adelaide (or anywhere, really) and Sydney, and see if you can time how long it takes until he makes his decision.

Yer our first picks have been disappointing Pitt was always very lightframed Simpson was a big transition from Yalgoo they were both surprising Apeness looks fair enough can see the reasoning.
As for Harry Taylor he could have come back and been part of a history making premiership in his own state instead he sticks it out at Geelong reckon in his later years he will think I should have had a crack at it..

Disadvantage of being a WA team. For some reason we can't manage to lure WA boys back home, though (i.e. Harry Taylor, Mitch Clarke). Is Perth less exciting than Melbourne or something??
As someone that moved from Perth to Melbourne in my 20's there are not enough ways to describe how much the answer to this is 'yes'.

Yes Melbourne can be better for sure but as some one who has lived in Geelong that is a great place to escape from a badly done Fremantle.

Maybe we should only recruit players keen on surfing - no way you would choose Melbourne over Perth then.

We have always had a lot of surfy dudes in our ranks - just ask Johnny Docker.

Spent a lot of time in Melbourne and I don't really understand it.. kind of like how people would go there from Perth for Krispy Kreme.
I have a great time there, bars are good, food is good but once you get to know Perth, the same goes. Different Strokes, I Guess...

That being said... keen to get down there in a couple weeks time

Bleurgh I hate krispy kremes. Melbourne's good for sport. So so so good for sport. And it's cheaper than Perth. And um... did I mention it's good for sport? It's also the only place in Aus I can do my job. The good things you have in Melbourne, like music (better in Perth), bars & cafes & shopping (better in Melbourne), they all do exist in Perth, but you have to know where to look, or know someone who knows, and it's not widly known how awesome Perth is, hence it being harder to attract people there. I even know people here in Melbourne that thing their beaches are the best think since sliced bread. I do try & get back to Perth as often as possible though & literally go to the beach every day.
