What an amazing game of footy at Lancaster yesterday.

Stanhope leads all day to lose 9.9 to 9.8.

Great result for Nev Montgomery - a great servant of the club.

I actually went and checked out yesterday's GF's. It was a weird day for footy! It was incredibly windy and then it would rain and then the sun would be out.

It was also a day of upsets with the minor premiers in all grades losing the GF. I only watched the first 10 mins of the seniors because I had to go somewhere else, but it looked at though Stanhope would comfotable get up. I think it was 3 goals to 1.

Apparently, Stanhope didn't kick a goal after half time. Is that right centreman?

That is correct Tyson Sidebottom won the VCFL medal

I was there as well, (I got there about 3/4 time of the thirds, and that was a fantastic game as well !, with Avenel just getting the best of the previously undefeated, Nagambie), and at half time, I was considering going home early to beat the traffic, but luckily for me I didn't and I watched a fantastic game.

Skills wise, it was ordinary, due to the conditions, but after 3/4 time, after Tally kicked about 6-7 behinds, after making most of the play, I thought that Stanhope would hang on, after virtually thinking they had it won at half time (I know that a few of thier supporters were thinking that aloud as well, the cocky S.O.B's), but that miss from 15 metres out that would've sealed the premiership for Stanhope, that sensational mark by Daniel Lloyd and that Tarone Palmer goal, that got them into the lead for the first time in the game with only 2 minutes to go, and of course they hung on to win.

But, then again, when you only kick 4 behinds in two quarters of football, you're always going to struggle, especially with thier injury list.

Tyson Sidebottom was excellent as always, and he would've got at least 40 touches for the game, and was the difference in the end.

Congratulations to Tallygaroopna for winning thier first premiership since 1974, and sadly that leads my team, Murchison with the longest premiership drought in the KDFL (23 years, our last flag being in 1982), which I hope that we break sooner rather than later.

Tyson is an ex Shepp Bears player? I'm pretty sure thats where he played under 18's. Where would he play in a good GV side? Flanks, on-ball? Could he get $$ to play GV?

Tyson is apparently having a crack at a rookie list spot next year. I think Melbourne and another club is interested.

Stanhope ordered 23 barrels for their celebrations over the weekend. Their were a lot of disappointed people there and there was a massive fight out the front of the pub.

In other KD news, Rushworth forward Jodie Canavan is going to coach Girgarre who have told him he has $120,000 to spend. Perry Meka from Ardmona has retired as a player, but still might coach. If he does, expect the two Yze brothers to go to the club.

big bucks for jodie to throw around. Brendan White from Tongala has been signed as his assistant, he will be a good player int he Kdl if he gets fit and remains injury free.

Gig have always been strong financially, but over the last couple of years they just could not attract players to take the cask away from them.

Yeh, I forgot about White. Also, Canavan is trying to get Meka out there as well.

How did Rushworth go this year? Also i heard that a big fella named Steven Gamble played there this year, can anyone help me out?

Rushworth had a good season, but they would be really disappointed with their finals campaign.

Last year, their 1st and 2nds both won the flag. This year, the 1st played Stanhope in the last game of the year to see who got top spot. Rushworth lost convincingly and then got flogged in both of their finals games. Their 2nds made the preliminary final and lost.

I only saw them play twice and I don't recall Steven Gamble sorry.

Cheers mate.

I just realised i have missed out on two flags in a row in the last 2 years. Was actualy going to play for Rushworth last year (travel from melb) but fell through, and this year i was going to play for St. Albans and their 2's won the flag! Ah well....... probably would have been injured :D

I have heard that about Gig three weeks ago that Canavan was going over there as well as a few blokes from Tongala (and some from Rushy as well), geez, I thought that Gig had a bit of money in the bank (supposedly about 70-80k), but bloody hell, $120,000 god most GVFL side wouldn't have that much in thier bank accounts, and how are they going to generate that sort of cash without some serious work (not to mention massive debt).

But anyway with the blue outside the Stanhope pub, did they have to call the cops ?, because I hope to just to deflect attetion from us for a while.
