Richmond is set to pick up to five new faces for its round one clash against Geelong at the MCG on Sunday, but star recruit Richard Tambling is in doubt with a toe injury.

Tigers coach Terry Wallace said the Richmond line-up which runs out at the MCG will be considerably different to what fans saw in round 22 last year, but not too dissimilar to what has been seen in the Wizard Home Loans Cup.

Tambling, the No.4 selection at the 2004 NAB Rising Stars Draft, is suffering from a bruised toe and whether he is selected in round one depends on how he trains this week.

"I would have thought that three weeks ago he was an absolute guarantee to play," Wallace said.

"Now we've just got to make a decision whether it's the right thing to do by the boy to play him. He won't play if there's any doubt from an injury point of view, but if he flies around the track over the next two training sessions, we've got a decision to make whether we believe his lead-up to the season is right for him."

Midfielder Shane Tuck, 23, who has played just three matches for the Tigers, seems certain to be selected after an excellent pre-season while No.1 draft pick Brett Deledio is another poised to be picked.

Wallace said supporters can expect to see Mark Chaffey playing in a slightly different role this season, while former Hawk Mark Graham will form part of the Tigers' new defence.

"It (the team) won't be that dissimilar to what we displayed in the Wizard Cup. When you look at it, there will probably be about five guys that you would sort of suggest would be new. We haven't finalized our side yet but that would be around the mark."

"Mark Chaffey has trained all summer as being a run-with player in the midfield, rather than the backman we've seen over the last six or seven years."

No urgency to play him - give him a rest to get over it.
Saw his girlfriend at family day - a little stunner. I'm sure he'll get lots of TLC :D
