Elliot yeo got traded to WCE for pick 28, which was then used by the lions to draft lewis taylor. Who won that trade - wce or brisbane?

Yeo looks like he could become a complete player. He's big, strong, quick and classy.

I watched 4 or so Brisbane games this year and I didn't even know Lewis Taylor existed.

It's too early to call but I'll vote for Yeo because Taylor is a manlet.

I think Yeo projects as a better player but both will be very good in their own right.

Wasn't there some sort of stat in one of the Inquirer articles this year that West Coast won a huge percentage of clearances with Yeo in the middle? Just going off a vague memory here so could be completely wrong.

Doesn't say much for the Eagles other mids when a young guy who has played the majority of his footy across half back can make that much of a difference. Both will be good footballers, Taylor just shows that losing a bunch of kids can just be replaced through the draft, not a disaster after all.

Can't select Yeo on the basis of his greater physical attributes compared to output, but he's been good for West Coast, and for the pick they gave up, he's a more than handy acquisition.

That said, I'd probably prefer Taylor - personally. That's not to say that in West Coast's position I'd swap Yeo for Taylor. I just love how he gets around the field, brings so much to the table for the Lions.

Understand it's a comparison for the purposes of deciding who 'won the trade', but each club has come out with a bloody good prospect, and I don't think too many parallels can be drawn between them as players.

I'd prefer Yeo at my club.

I voted Yeo, only to spite the childish OP. Taylor will be the better player though, future star in the making, but wish Lions fans would show more humility and less arrogance.

what part is childish ?

I would absolutely take Yeo over Taylor. All bias aside.

Taylor showed a lot this year, but played in a very young rebuilding side and took a role where the only real competition was Josh Greene (Maybe Bewick) who ended up playing along side him.

Yeo started across half back in an older more competitive (just) team already boasting Shannon Hurn competing with established players such as Schofield, Bennell, Butler and Sheppard to an extent.

Not discounting the fact either may become very good players. But you may argue that Taylor has a lower ceiling due to height restrictions, Midfields are getting bigger at this point in time and he may be consigned to the forward pocket where he may well flourish for all we know. Ballentyne may be a fair comparison.

Yeo has the size and ball wining ability to play in the midfield, stats show he improves our clearance winning ability and we know that in the midfield is where the heavy lifting is done. That being said its all conjecture as he is yet to take that step but has shown glimpses of his potential this year.

Time is the only factor which will determine this argument however.

When he was moved to the midfield just before injury, Yeo became our dominant clearance player. Averaged 7 clearances across those couple of matches and boy does he make them count. Big body who can smash through congestion, run like the wind then deliver long accurate kicks. Also a beastly mark overhead and was averaging 7 marks over that period.

He played a role off HB, usually as a more close checking defender, but when match fit and moved into the middle he really started to impact. Again, unlucky with the injury.

Yeo will be a very good player for the eagles, but not a star. Taylor is a blue chip player with potential to be one of the comps elite. I think Brisbane won this trade by a fair way.

Do you loan out your crystal ball?

Yeo physically projects as having A grade or elite potential. Attitude wise, he is a competitor, trains well and attacks the game hard. Not long ago Brisbane fans were singing his praise.

Your opinion does seem to be very lop sided

I don't think Yeo will be a star but I think he is a safe bet to become quite a good player. I can't say the same for Taylor.
