Usually there is a player whom, when he plays well the team plays well. They aren't necessarily the best player (as the improvement in their game tends not to be so great) or a KPP but they are influential.

2015 it was Hartlett, when he played tough we played tough.
2014 it was Pittard (and to a lesser extent Polec), when his moves came off we were rampant.
2013 it was Hoff in his multi-roll.

Who do people believe will be this seasons barometer? My money is on Jasper again,
his 'way' is our way and when it comes off we are winners.

For mine it's Lobbe.

If he can clean up his ruck work and be injury free, The loss of Ryder won't be so bad and we might get some decent clearance numbers.

Yeah, he's the obvious correct answer from a tactical viewpoint. I was thinking a little more esoterically.

Tom Jonas. It looks like he's in Hinkley Dink's calculations still, and his form coincided mostly with Port's in 2015 - he'll have even more accountability in 2016 if we're playing an actual forward line and not overloading/flooding the defence.

I actually considered him before I went with Pittard for similar reasons. He was so important in 2014 and dropped so far in 2015 that his influence must be quite significant.

Polec for mine. Every great win over the last 2 years he was a part of in a big way.

Robbie is the only one I enjoy as much in full flight.

Westhoff: especially with Dixon now in the side. If the Hoff gets to roam around like an unregistered dog, there's some happy times ahead for Port fans.

I'm on the Ollie bandwagon. For mine we need him to regain top form and play 25 outstanding games to win the premiership.

The other barometer will be injuries, we can't afford injuries in the ruck or to our prime moving mids. Stay relatively injury free and I'm confident in what we'll produce.

I'd like to think my buddy Chad but he was sensational last year but as a team we floundered. But if you have the big 3 in Chad, Robbie and Trav firing alll at the same time we won't lose too many games. Have those 3 firing the rest falls in to place, ie Dixon & Schulz getting spoon fed.

Boaky had a not bad year last year but it did drop off from his 2013-2014, he is the heart and soul, when he lifts you can feel the whole team collectively lift with him. So i think he is the number 1 barometer.

Trengove

Last few years we've won nearly every time he played, and lost nearly every time he hasn't

Not so obvious, but that's a fact jack

I read that as Bill Murray.
