Greg Miller, and his recruiting team, will be responsible for bringing more quality players to the Club (you can never have too many!). As discussed in the past, I am very strong on us never trading our early draft selections, unless it is for another young, quality player, who will be at Tigerland for 10 years. There are no guarantees in this business, but you need to have a strong plan and a strong understanding of what you are trying to achieve, and then be meticulous from both a recruiting and coaching point of view, to ensure that you develop the group into a powerful unit.

God bless Plough.

There are so many other regions in football that need to be covered off. You need strong ruck options, which the Club now has, key defensive players, which we still need to develop for the future, as well as strong-bodied forwards and ‘crumbers’. But unless you get the midfield right, you will never play effective, winning football.

I assume he is talking about Hartigan, Newman and Schultz? Surly we need to draft more 'key defensive players'

This article got posted in another thread, but I'll comment here.

I really am positive about Wallace as a coach at the moment. I've got no idea what the players think, but from the perspective of having an effective game plan, making changes on field (both match ups and tactical changes), as well as his recruiting philosophy, I'm very happy.

Of course - we will have games where we get cut up because our young guys go missing as well as out lack of pace amongst the senior players, but so far so good.

i read it this way ("You need strong ruck options, which the Club now has..."). in terms of key defenders i think he is saying that we still need to target these type of players ("...key defensive players, which we still need to develop for the future" etc).

i am sure that he fully realises how hard we are going to need to target these kind of players in the next trade and draft period or two.

How Wallace must love being at a club that has been so crap for so long, but still manages over 25,000 members.

It must all be just putty in his hands at the moment.
