We’re very inexperienced and that’s telling when we get into winning positions. Lack of seniority in the side is probably the reason we’ve been beaten on a couple of occasions when we’ve had the opportunity to win. But what I clearly see is we’ve got some players who are now starting to develop and I keep saying to people that 19-year-olds will eventually become 22 and 23-year-olds and get their own back at some stage. We’ve been beaten by a few teams in the competition at the moment who have got very experienced players, but are never going to win a premiership with those experienced players. You can go down a pathway like that where you’re winning games and you perhaps finish the perennial ninth that our club has done over a period of time, or you start a process and bring all these kids through together, where they’re actually a chance of having some real success. And, that’s the pathway we’re going down at the moment. Others have chosen a different pathway, but that’s the pathway we’ve chosen . . .

I've been saying this all along but take a look at these words, it is RFC future, one we won't now but one we have to wait for, when this group of players develop to mature players they will have done it together and trust me, thats what is going to make RFC a power again, one united team.

no head start, lets stop kidding ourselves and moulding the argument to suit us bc we're insecure about the quality of our club.

Fact is Hawthorn bit the bullet earlier and are now reaping the rewards. Whether its temporary or permanent time will tell, Im still not completely sold on them.

We are certainly not 0-9 quality, anyone who has seen our games will acknowledge this, but neither are we anywhere near top 8 standard.... bottom line is they are 6-3 we are 0-9 after both clubs started rebuilding at a similar stage. Them are the facts and we have to suck it up while we are going through a difficult period. We were happy to hammer them over the last 2 seasons for finishing above them, cant have your cake and eat it too tigers supporters.

But we will come good, we have talent coming through, just need to keep adding to it, 3 picks in the top 20 this season as well as an astute pickup in the preseason draft will help as well as experience to our young players who are already the core of our side.

cry me a river, bottom line is, both clubs have been at similar stages since 2001, both made a prelim, both went downhill since. We had cogs, pettifer and other early picks which we traded for to get johnson and brown in the same period. Its not a head start its just the way things are bc of the way we went about things. You dont go clutching at straws saying they have 3 core players from such and such year so they have a headstart, we couldve done the same, we didnt, so we wear it. At least have some dignity and stop looking for excuses all the time.

We decided to keep richo, gaspar, kellaway, they decided to trade away players like hay, thompson. Its done, time to move on, but spare us the excuses boys! Brown and richo and cogs are everybit as good (haha much better infact) as hodge, mitchell, brown regardless of the age factor and could be for a few years yet (if injuries allowed) The difference is they are getting maximum output from them, we're not, thats it, none of this headstart rubbish

the difference between clarkson and wallace is that he made the veteran players on that list feel so unwelcome that they were happy to be traded - and they were able to get an influx of high draft selections quickly. our players wanted to stay to help turn the club around, and wallace wanted them to be there to show the younger guys the ropes.

clarkson tanked, and wallace didn't - thats pretty much it.

hawthorn are going extremely well, and should be happy with the way they are travelling - but an excellent run with injuries they have had - and which we have not.

if franklin, hodge, and lewis went down- they would struggle.

they are ahead of us right now - but they wont win a flag in the next 2 seasons - we will have a big year at the draft this season - and the gap will become smaller again.

in three years - it will be a very interesting battle between the richmond & hawthorn & Carlton list

half those players arent even on our list anymore, and i dont ever remember terry saying that we will win a flag with any of those blokes being experienced players - there just the ones we have either had or still got??

i'm pretty sure wallace has always said our time will come when we have a list mainly made of of 25-28 year olds (deledio, tambling, raines, Jon, Edwards,Reiwoldt, hughes, thursty etc) - with a handful of experienced senior players (brown, newman, cogs, johnson, schulz, simmonds,J.Bowden )

we could of told him these players sucked 2 years ago, but he went for the glory too early and payed the price which is taken the club more backwards than it should of gone

aren't you having a bit each way too though?

terry has admitted we need senior players - so he has recruited some VERY CHEAPLY - who at certain times in thier career - have been very decorated in their postion. if we were to recruit quality experience, we would have to trade away our quality picks and youth - so therefore he has followed the plan as we needed.

keep hold of gas and kellaway, get kingsley and graham for free - recruit simmo at a bargain - use picks on the future.

so we are getting atleast SOME experience, while still playing a majority of the kids??

is it not basic to understand the rationale behind that???? would you rather we trade to get quality experience???!?

Just want to clear up something with your stand regarding the future of the Tigers. In 2 quotes above you say the only way to catch up is take one for the team and get the priority pick, then you asy you don't want to finish last again but a top 3 pick is crucial.

Then in you post in this thread you say Wallace went for glory too early and has paid the price which has taken the club backwards more than it should have gone.

My question is, what exactly did you expect from the side this year?

I might be reading too much into it but to me it seems you are saying either we should take a hit a finish 15th-16th and get a PP or we should try and win games and take what comes.
