I won't speak for the club but they draft what they see as the best available talent at that pick, within the context of the team's needs.

If a Moore was available at 37 this year, they would have taken him. Tew was seen to be the best defender available at that pick, I back them. You disagree and that's cool too.

Gone Critical will vow that 10-12cm growth spurts are a common occurence. Tew might still break the 200cm barrier!

That’s news to me. Not suggesting it’s incorrect or anything, but my question would be why? Allocating two train on spots to players who aren’t up to it doesn’t seem a Collingwood move.

I haven't scrolled through the rest of the thread to see if anyone responded to you Sco, but two players can train per spot.

Dekka said they'll take two spots for SSP, allowing four players to train. Call on Kelly will be made after tomorrow but I haven't heard outside of this board that Eyre is actually confirmed to be training with us.

Would’ve preferred a solid key defender like Ollie Murphy.
Nathan Murphy is punchdrunk, Howe is long in the tooth, Dean’s body is made of glass, Frampton is a spud and if Moore gets injured we are screwed.

Tew seems like the Howe replacement so I don’t mind it too much

My issue is that Schoenmaker was available…twice for us to take and we didn’t take him

So we must have some kind of succession plan for KPB that none of us are aware of

Reported we were keen on Khamis and Doedee, so medium defender is a need we've been looking to address.

Not as aerially adept, but chance to be a Howe replacement, 188cm to Howe's 190cm.

Anyone who wants us to draft talls to address short term needs, remember they'll take 3+ years to play in a side challenging for a flag. They won't help in the short term and come at great risk. We'd need a higher pick to consider taller types who could have a short term impact. Right now we have enough. If we need cover, maybe we sign a more ready KPD.

Cheers mate! That all fit with my understanding of things, but the elephant in the room is two spots for SSP? I haven’t caught up on the interview and we currently have three vacant so it seems we’ll be upgrading a rookie and also not participating in todays draft to hold flexibility into the MSD?

Couldn’t agree more with your post, but I got a chuckle from the bolded comment. There’s never been a player as aerially adept as Howe and probably never will again. I reckon he’s got Howe covered for reach as well which is more important than height, IMO.
