Ratts beleives that if Tex gets through the Ants game this weekend he could come straight back in.

He is also still of a mind that Stevens and Scotland are in our best 22, they just have to train the house down, even though they did not get a run in the Ants because of the bye.

Suggests 2 things, discipline is being imposed, and we have some strong inclusions to come and hopefully all the ins are super hungry for it.

The Pies are going to be a good test for us - a likely opponent in Week 1 or 2, and it should be close to finals like atmosphere for us.

I can certainly see Ratts rushing Walker back for such a big clash, and you can also guarantee Scotland & Stevens will be back by then if not before.

If we manage to beat them, I'm not looking forward to facing them in the finals though, in much the same way as I won't be that worried to face the Bombers - Its funny in footy how streaks such as these always get broken at the worse possible time for the team that had preivously been dominant...

Actually after writing that, I've just convinced myself that Walker should be given the 2 weeks in the reserves, because we should only be worrying about tanking the Pies match anyway...so we have a better chance at making a Prelim...if that makes any sense...

*shrugs*

I think we can win this week with the team we have got. Struggle to see us winning 4 in a row so maybe adding Walker, Stevens and Scotland all at once vs Pies will give add some surprise and desperation to the team. Would love to see those 3 back vs Pies.

Russell and Bentley and Hartlett should expect to be dropped once Stevens, Scooter and Walker come back into the squad.

Suggests you dont think they will get back this week. Not that I have any issue with that, we are coming to the business end and if you dont mean business then you dont have a spot.

In the pre-season many speculated that we now have fierce competition for spots across the ground, we have at least 7 players that in form have genuine claims on a spot and a few we are waiting to see.

Warnock and Sauce will soon come back into contention so rucking spots will heat up, Carlos is also expected back and The Chief and Cloke want his spot and Walkers return puts pressure on Fish. Aussie and Bower to return to the backline means pressure on Harts to continue to improve as well as Stevo and Scotland so there are 10 players that want back in. Add to them Robbo and Yarren who would both like to get more games in their debut year for a neat dozen.

All of the above are capable, lets hope that the treatment that Scotty and Stevo got for below par effort starts to sink in with the entire list.

Can we just once, just this one time, not have this player will be dropped or that player will be dropped rubbish. Of course someone will be dropped but lets just wait and see who it is rather than this anti Carlton crap. Only took 5 posts. Jeez. Way to ruin yet another thread.

Russell will remain in the squad, so find someone else to drop to the 2nd's

Stop being so 'precious' ...
I'm happy for the other kids to be given more gametime like Joe Anderson and Armfield etc, and in this instance those players are 'dispensable, and they won't be at Carlton in 2/3 years time anyway, they are 'list cloggers' ...

Great when he's back. His fitness is always excellent, and I'm not too fussed if he needs a few weeks to find touch. Just hilarious how the media are over-hyping the Pies. They've had a good run on the back of an incredibly soft draw, designed by the AFL to make sure they play finals and bring in the revenue they need. Nothing better than going into a Pies game with them over-rating themselves. We'll give them their 4th consecutive thumping. :)

Im with russell as well . He stays , i think hes finally turned the corner and hes as tough as nails..

I would love to see stevo, scotland and walker all back in at once for the pies!!

I like what Hartlett has to offer and really hope he gets a chance this week!

Our inconsisitent season is mostly due to our inconsistent player availability
We have had only 8 Players play every game, only 15 players have played
more than 10 games for the year and 21 players have played less than 10

Ladder Of Players Games over 10 for year

ST 21 302 Not Surprised
AD 22 298 No wonder they are going so well
GE 22 294 Even last week hasn't dropped em
WB 20 285 Thats why they rolled the easybeats but can't win squat on top
SY 21 282 No excuses Too many hacks getting a game
PA 21 280 Trouble is they only turn up at Footy Park
BR 21 276 Settled Side helps for better than expected solid results
CO 20 262 Lot of whinging about injuries aren't as critical as claimed
ES 19 254 This is why they are 8th and not 12th
FR 18 248 Big underachievers but list management is a factor
ME 18 242 Have only been settled the last few weeks
WC 18 238 Ladder position says it all
HA 18 233 Well documented injury problems this year
RI 17 223 Lots of list rotation trying to find anyone who can play
NM 16 221 Injuries have hurt them
CA 15 206 LAST BY A LONG WAY We have been hurt by injuries all year

You can see how closely it follows the actual ladder
It highlights why we have lost close matches and aren't 11-4
but it also highlights what we are capable of next year
with the player list all stronger and bigger and with luck more settled

This won't help us this year but it is obvious over the next few weeks
with Warnock, Walker, Bower, Jacobs, Setanta, Pfeiffer, Wiggins all
coming off the injury list soon that with our full list available
we are going to be a lot scarier for teams in the last 7 weeks
of the year than the first 7.

I think he needs 2 games in the VFL before returning.

A big contrast to last year when Ratten made Walker wait about 6 weeks before bringing him in the side.

Cant even open a thread and read some good news about Walker possibly returning friday week........without you hijacking the thread and throwing up names for omission.

Do you even watch Carlton games?

Russell in the last few weeks >>>>> :thumbsu:

Go back to following Geelong ya flog :thumbsu:

*Is there a button i can click to avoid stumbling across this muppets post's? Or will he just disappear to follow another club soon?

There's an ignore button you twit ...

Just wait for Russell to fall to pieces when he comes up against decent opposition like Geelong or Adelaide.

Why should you give him credit for playing average against two of the worst sides in the comp ?

He wouldn't get a game at most other clubs, and I think even the most avid Russell lovers would have to agree with that.
