Pinched this from the ACC report thread...

Kyle is a flog!! He said he took a little bit of 'The stuff' and then proceeds to say that he didn't have anything. #flog #2weeks3months
I had a laugh when I saw that, and I completely agree - Riemers was all over the shop. That could be for a few reasons though. I also though Bernie Vince's tweet reply, suggesting Essendon think they're a 'strong' chance to beat us in round 1 was good.

While I fully enjoy our blokes doing things like this, hopefully someone pulls them aside at training today, and offers a "tone it down legends." We dont need a jumpy, cranky AFL getting all p-ssed off at us again for nothing.

Still, I love how our blokes seem to be in good spirits. Thats why I have faith that this Tippett sh-t wont phase us. Does it also point out that, if Tex and Burn are making light of the situation, that our blokes dont have anything to worry about? Hmm...

Thoughts?

I watched that interview (on the assumption that is was actually done a while ago), he simply sounds like a confused footballer - I don't think he had any malice in it.

I guess Tex has more of a licence given the people who would likely sanction him (Trigg and Chapman) don't exactly have any credibility right now.

What a load of horse hockey. Trigg is serving his sentence, when he comes back, he will have done his time - clean slate. If he has to pull up a player because of poor behaviour, he better bloody do it!

Oh I'm sure he will.

We all make mistakes Cap.
yes we do.

It will be interesting, say we get another player get done Drink Driving and loses his licence - how can the club apply further sanctions when they simply accepted the AFL sanctions for Trigg?

losing your licence for 12 months and a big fine is pretty significant, so why wouldn't we just accept those?

Yep, good point. Mind you, 6 months out of your job - unpaid, PLUS a $50,000 fine is far greater don't you think?

I guess it depends who the player is and what the fine is.

I was just giving an example really - that being said I reckon the role of stick wielder will move somewhere else anyway - so Trigg can focus on his strengths of improving the balance sheet.

Maybe. I just hope people like you will give him a chance and not condemn him for life. I think his penalty is a bloody harsh one - and yes he still has his job, but it's been a harsh penalty none the less.

I wouldn't worry about people like me, hell I'm just a member hardly important to the AFC.

It is the wider community that it will be interesting, every person I've spoken to in a leadership role (i.e directors CEOs etc) is astonished that he still has a job - but I think the club checked with its sponsors already so who knows - maybe I talk to a minority (or Port fans)

But the AFC and copped a bigger penalty than Steven we lost a good player for nothing, plus numerous draft picks. He got off lightly.

Fortunately the AFC is in a position to buffer that loss with some good depth players that will take Tippetts place. We lose four draft picks over two years, but are able to lessen that penalty to a some extent because we are still able to trade (including trading for better position) and able to participate in free agency. There are buffers to the AFC. Steven, on the other hand, has no income for 6 months. And he had to pay out a $50,000 fine. He has a home, he has a wife and children. There's no buffer there for him.

I'm sure he's in a good position the same as the AFC. If you get paid what he has for as long as hes been at the afc and not in a position to cover that there's something wrong.

Funnily enough, most people live to their income. ;) Yes, I would hope he has a buffer of sorts but 6 months plus the fine requires a very big bloody buffer!

if he did the honourable thing and quit, he'd be working on a full wage right now.

I'd also suggest you are understating the importance of the draft picks we lost - it will be made all that much worse if we don't finish top 4 next year.

I'm not understating it. I know they will have an impact. And you forget, he did offer to quit and Chapman rejected it.

Please Jenny, you sound more and more naive the more you defend Trigg. He did not quit, if he did he would no longer be working there. Chapman can't stop him quitting. If Trigg was honorable to his own word (ie mud sticks) he would have quit, full stop. He didn't quit, he put himself before the club and stayed. And yes I am condemning him for life (his remaining life at the AFC that is).

Since this thread has somehow turned into a thread about Steven Trigg, I'll post this here.

The coming weeks will be very interesting viewing to see A) see the outcome of this Essendon drug scandal B) what the result are and then C) how the Essendon board handle this. What will they do?

If this is as serious as some people in the media are instigating and Ian Robson somehow survives, Steven Trigg and the Adelaide Crows board have some credibility in keeping their CEO. That will then allow the voting members of the Essendon Football club to have a say. Will they remove the board with a vote of no confidence at their next election or will they remain solid in that board?

Saying that, If it's not as serious as it's being instigated and Robson is still let go, what does this say about the Crows board? Will it make them look even softer than they appear now and look soft as butter and as if they actually knew something or different clubs, different cultures.

Not sure you can equate one stuff up (albeit a bad enough one) with systemic drug use across a whole club as is being suggested.

Ask Macca23. Triggy tried to do the right thing and Chapman talked him out of it.
