What are the best things to do?
Nightspots?
Best shops?

Phuket is average....if you can go to Phi Phi Island for most of the trip

What are the best things to do?
Go to a pingpong show....a show were girls put things inside them that should never be inside them...fish, turtles, birds, cigarettes you name it.

Get a rub and tug massage

Get pissed and pick up tourists

Go shopping at the night markets, buy DVDs, buy a tailored suit

Go jetskiing or absailing

Get pissed

Nightspots?

'Seduction' is probably the best western club for picking up young tourist clunge

Tiger Discotech is average, Banana Bar is good, Aussie bar is good during the day, lots of little bars along Bangla road you can have a drink in that are ok

Best shops?

Get a tailored suit/shirts from 'Mr Singhs'...ask around people will be able to direct you

Chemists are good if you want diet pills, Xanax, Valium, local Viagra
Tourist attractions?

Phuket Zoo, beachs, shooting ranges, markets, snorkling tours (although you are better jsut staying on one of the smaller islands or outside Phuket for the best snorkling/diving)

Scratch the jetskiing! It could cost you 2-5 grand aussie for a small bump that was already there. This scam is well known amongst regular visitors. Don't give the crims your business.

A bloke in our group got done in Koh Samui....2 grand later for a hole that was already there...got surrounded by thugs and forced to get the cash.

Phuket is pretty shit, compared to the places around it. Well, very shit compared to the greatness that the other islands are.

Phuket stinks, has crowded beaches and there are aussies everywhere. Go to an place like Krabi or Phi Phi (prefer Krabi) and there are very little aussies, much nicer beaches and far more chilled and natural.

The only thing better about Phuket is the night life, which is pretty sweet.

While there, you'll see places down streets with fish tanks with heaps of tiny fish (forgot their names) where you put your feet in for a couple of bucks for a massage from them. Definently an experience.

Don't get a suit in Patong, it's a tourist spot so they make tourist quality suits i.e. shit. If you want a good suit go to Bangkok and go to one recommended online

Also I heard of the jetski scam before heading there and while it does exist, go to a sport with lots of westerners near the jetski guy or one where a westerner gets off the jetski and is not getting hassled. I had a blast on it at Patong.

Lastly you are there for ten days, get out of Patong: Head to phi phi or koh phanang or raleigh, go anywhere away from Patong -->it's the devil. Nah it's OK but there are tons of better places

Really? I bought a suit in Patong and it's still fine to this day...

Agree about getting out of Patong. 10 days is probably too long in Patong. Five or six days is enough and spend the rest in Phi Phi.

Stay away from the Paradise Complex. I went in there not knowing it was the gay district. I actually went into a bar, got a beer, sat outside and only noticed it was a gay area when two guys across the road came up to me and said "flower for you...friend..." and gave me a rose. Took the rose, finished my beer (possibly got another beer and drank it) then left. You get treated like an absolute king but it's only because they want your slug. Some nice guys there but yeah, nah.

The only real thing to do in Patong is go down Bangla rd. The pinpong show is a MUST! But do not sit at the front where all the girls are pulling rope out of their hoo-ha. Drink prices at the pingpong show were ridiculously expensive for Phuket from memory.

Catch tuktuks or cabs everywhere. Don't walk unless it's walking down Bangla. They're cheap and you meet some absolute crack ups. Not to mention walking over there is a nightmare. Got stuck doing it far too many times.

Oh and don't lose your passport on your first night there

Ping Pong shows are pretty gross but it is one of those tick the boxes sort of thing i guess.

On that they'll say to you free show, or cheap show etc. but they won't tell you the price of the beers until you get in there and then they'll tell you it's 500 baht or something crazy. Make sure if you decide to go to one that you lock in a price for a beer with the tote that you go with.

Yeah they are awesome, had some at a bar in Koh Phangan the day after the Full Moon Party when we were hungover as hell and then spent the rest of the day just laughing our arses off. Felt twice as bad the next day though.

Never went to Phuket but heard it is pretty touristy so gave it a miss. I went to Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Krabi and Phi Phi and all were great, nightlife is still pretty decent but they aren't too overrun with tourists.
