While I am sure mine is not a popular view amoungst our supporters I would like to thank the club for its strength in the didak/shaw drama. I believe the actions of the club has done more for our future prospects than anything in recent memory.
I for one have not thought we were a chance for the flag this year with or without didak and shaw. I also believe that values such as discipline, honesty, high work ethic and integrity are cornerstone of success for any successful organisation including football clubs. These values are now in place more so than at any time I can remember. There would not be 1 person at the club who is now under any illusion as to what kind of committment is required to represent the football club. A few months ago I suspect there would have been quite a few who doubted that these values existed.
What I also know is that without this happening the likes of Mccarthy, Dawes, cook and Anthony may not have got the run they did and there is more than enough to suggest that these guys could play a pretty important role within the side and the finals experience they gain is invaluable.
Last year we played geelong and got within 5 points. Missing from that side last night were Rocca, Burns, Buckley, clement, shaw and didak just off the top of my head. Not only 6 of our best 7 or 8 players last year but almost the entire leadership group. Anyone who thinks making the final 6 with the players we had was not a very good acheivement needs to have a closer look.
Im am more confident now that we can win a flag in the next few years than I was prior to these events happening. I know there has been alot o pressure on the club to overturn the decision and I say well done to them for stahing strong.
