I'll be the first to offer my thanks to Danners after his 10 year stint at the club. He didn't achive the results the club was looking for and full credit to him for going out with dignity and a head held high. I've met him before and he's a great guy. All the best for the future.

In my opinion the only coach that was loved by all a true character of the game he'll be missed by all fans of AFL. Hopefully he gets a job somewhere else in the AFL, even if not coaching

Great bloke, fantastic media player. Gave Melbourne that extra bit of publicity, particularly 2004 onwards. Just goes to show how respected and well-liked he was that he managed to stay put for 10 years without a flag. :thumbsu:

Yep have to thank him for his efforts, a great guy and well liked across the industry. Show his true class by resigning...if that makes any sense, recognised where he was at and put the interests of the Melbourne FC ahead of his own. Hopefully he can continue that in the way he coaches the club for the rest of the year.

You were a great player cut down in your prime, great coach cut down down in your prime. You will coach again and I've got no doubt will win a flag. The way you have handled yourself today is a credit to you. All the best for the future.

Well said, I agree. Always came across as an honest likable bloke - and good to see him and the club handling it well, as so many other coaching departures of recent years have been messy from both sides.

I'll be the first to stand up and applaud him off the field tomorrow night if he goes. No bitterness, no hard feelings - he did his best and we had some great moments in the last few years.

Was the right bloke for the job when he came in '98. Nearly pinched it in his first year too.

Unfortunately couldn't string together a consistent run and suffered for the yo-yo seasons and for too many years of the side limping in to the final 8, only to be bundled out.

Not a particularly great win-loss ratio, just stands a bit under 50%, which illustrates too many bad years along side the good years.

Was good for the MFC, but the MFC was good for ND too.

Big loss to the Dees.
This guy is as good as they come and will coach a team to a premiership one day.:thumbsu:

Some of the players who have let him down now need the blowtorch switched to them.

Just thought I'd pop by to say my thanks to Daniher as well. For whatever reason it just didn't work for him at the club, but it wasn't through lack of effort. He bled Melbourne and worked his butt off to improve aspects of his own coaching, especially in talking up the club to the media, that have helped us forward over the last 4-5 years. I'm shattered I can't make it tomorrow night but I'll applaud him from wherever I am. A great bloke who has given us fans some terrific memories and, for that, we should be very thankful.

Couldn't agree more. I will definately applaud him after the game; win, lose or draw. He has been at the club for 10 years, took us through many highs and lows, entertained and frustrated us, and did his very best for the MFC. I wish him well in the future and sincerely thank him for all that he has done.

To hear that Neale had announced he was finishing up gave me a tinge of sadness but was overall ok by me because I figured he'd given everything he had to give to the club. I was rapt to hear he was going to be able to finish out the rest of the season. Now to find out that this will be his last week coaching Melbourne and I can't make it, I am absolutely gutted.

Congratulations to Neale in the way he carried out his job. It didn't turn out as successful as he would have liked, but he was as passionate for our club as any of us and gave his all to achieve the best that he could. Can't ask for any more than that.
