How bad will we be from 2027 onwards?

Lyon = 38
Boland = 36
Starc = 35
Haze = 34
Pat = 32 (has looked a little down on his peak form over the last 12 months)

Would be handy if Jye could get fit for a stretch. What quicks do we have coming through? Under 29?

Carey = 34
Head = 31

I hope we start to bring players through in the next 12 months. Otherwise, it will be a blood bath for a few years.

Lance Morris was beginning to look good before injury and Fergus O'Neill is doing pretty well. Beardman should be starting to look dangerous in a couple of years. We have Murphy and Roccicoli for spinners.

Batting we have Renshaw and Connolly looking pretty good. Jack Edwards and Liam Scott are building as allrounders. Konstas looks to be improving nicely as well. Kellaway has lost a bit of form recently but with a couple of shield seasons could be alright. McSweeney is probably worth another go as well.

Green will play all five tests. He needs the exposure and his bowling is, at the moment, his strength. He bowls a heavy ball is quick and breaks up the hanky brigade. He gets wickets/ wicket and breaks things up. He is then replaced. He has done his job.

I’m actually really enjoying the series.
All the matches have been really interesting and I think England has some very good players they’re just not as coherent as the Aussies.
It’s taken some special performances from a few players to get us over the line. Without Carey, Head and Starc playing blinders we could just as easily be a test or 2 down.
I think Stokes is a very canny captain at times and England has some quality with bat and ball just some of their prime movers, particularly with the bat haven’t been able to put it together.
Which makes their preparation even more puzzling. You can’t expect to beat a side of the quality of Australia without having everything humming and just relying on vibe. We’re too well drilled for them.

Agree with what you said but I think it is more than that.

If they had no injuries to bowling line up and has a test match quality spinner then maybe it would be closer. Cummins and Lyon in makes a big difference for us.

The below areas will continue to cost them.

Poor fielding and catching -anyways drop 1 or 2, ..... Or 5
Poor bowling depth - once Archer was off the pressure was off our batsmen. Picking Jacks was shocking.
Poor batting -root and stokes has been ok, Archer has probably been there 3rd best batsmen. Need 2 or 3 batsmen to lift.

Peake is yet to make a first class hundred and averages in the 20s.

Looks good to the eye test but give him as much as 4-5 years IMO. If it happens earlier for him that's a bonus.

Think McSweeney and Kelleway are the next two. Not sure we'll need much more than that in the medium term.

7 ashes series i have seen in Australia in my lifetime since 2002/03

6 of them have been 3-0 after 3 games

The exception 2010/11 it was 1-all and England won the last 2 tests.

They really have been pathetic bar that 1 series out here this century.

Sydney doesn’t spin much anymore, 1 is fine and Head can roll the arm over if needed. Unless they want Connolly to jump the cue and replace Inglis for options if Smudge isn’t ready.

Hopefully they give Roccillio a go, although spelling his name is going to be tough.
