Would have to one of the dumbest players going around...

Ryan Harris, the Kings XI Punjab fast bowler, has returned to Australia from the IPL after being diagnosed with an Achilles tendon injury. Harris left India on Tuesday, the night before he was named in Australia's squad for the Ashes in England this summer.
Harris, 33, had played in Kings XI's first three games of the season before sustaining the injury. Once the nature of his injury was ascertained the Kings XI management, in consultation with Cricket Australia's medical team, deemed it fit for Harris to return to Australia.
If Harris' rehabilitation goes as planned, he could recover well in time for the Ashes. "Harris has been ruled out for six to eight weeks, so it was best for him to be released and recover at home," Arvinder Singh, the Kings XI chief operating officer, told ESPNcricinfo. "We will name his replacement in a day or two."
Harris has a history of injuries and this latest setback is unlikely to go down well in Australia. After missing most of the domestic season, Harris had recovered in time play three Sheffield Shield games. His haul of 19 wickets in those matches for Queensland earned him a place in the Ashes squad, which is being touted as Australia's weakest since the 1980s.

If it's a full tear, I think he's probably done. Shattering, because when fit he's our best bowler.

Yep, he's like Cummins, when they are fit, they are guns.......just never seem to be fit.

I hope they decide to take a second spinner, either Agar or Holland for experience, or SOK/Ahmed for a legitimate second option. I think we need variations, but no doubt they'll just ship Midge Johnson off instead.

Wonder how our current selection panel would be perceived if they re-reviewed the argus report

A failure. Wasn't one of Arthur's main points about looking to the future?

Certainly flies in the face of selections like Haddin and Rogers.

True, but I think the Argus report noted rewarding form, and you can;t argue with either of those selections based on that.

If it was based on form Haddin's rightfully about 5 deep.

Not including Wade - Paine, Nevill, Hartley are all ahead of him. Sadly none of those are butt buddies with Clarke.

Im not Haddins number one fan by anymeans however his run scoring (avg 52.00 this season) needs to be rewarded. I would have taken Ponting as well for what its worth (avg 75.91) as well.

Paine is overrated for mine. Haddin made more FC tons this year than Paine has in his whole career, yet people seem to rate Paine so highly. Nevill is NSWs number 2, however I agree with Hartley should be given more recognition.

Both Haddin and Ponting are finished at international level. I agree, form needs to be rewarded but both these guys have proven they simply aren't up to it. For guys one the wrong side of 35 like these two, there's a big difference between domestic runs and international runs.

Case in point, their 2011 averages (for some reason 2012 wasn't listed) were 18 (Haddin) and 31 (Ponting).

You don;t think Warner will slot in at 6?

Watson has to open or he doesn't play.

Watson
Rogers
Hughes
Clarke
Warner
Special K
Haddin
Patto
Siddle
Lyon
Bird

Thats as good as we have. If the Poms beat that then so be it.
Doesn't play in my book. He's making runs at the moment in the short games but that form has never translated into test scores. Just hope the selectors don't get seduced again.

I couldn't imagine watching Cricket on another station.

Channel Ten makes bold play for TV rights

Channel Nine may be closer to losing the television rights to international cricket in Australia than at any time in the past 33 years, after their rival Ten made a bold combined bid for both international and BBL matches as a way to revitalise the recently moribund network.
Following the conclusion of an exclusive negotiating period between Ten and Cricket Australia, ESPNcricinfo understands Nine have been made aware of the scope of Ten's bid, which for international cricket alone is believed to comfortably outstrip CA's seven-year, $315 million deal with Nine that expired at the end of summer.

Apparently there's this thing called the IPL happening now. Some are second grade local cricketers being paid rather handsome sums of money to watch their offerings being flayed to all parts of various cricket grounds !

After the Pakistani fiasco of spot betting, alleged match fixing, and cricketers doing time you'd think that others would heed the warnings.... but noooooo Seems there's more money to be made by sticking things down your pants.

This story has of course done the rounds by now. For the record, I regularly went for 12 an over and I never received a cent !

Ha, parliament is actually changing the citizenship laws so that Fawad Ahmed can play for Australia...bwahahaha
