No Rogers against Somerset today.. playing Faulkner instead

Don't know that you need Patto, Stac, Siddle, Lyon plus Watson and Faulkner all bowling. Our weakness is our batting so we drop a bat and play a horf and horf.

It is bizarre. Maybe they plan on dropping Watson and playing Faulkner instead . . . [fingers crossed]

I think it may go to show that Rogers is a walk up start for the first test, given he's probably the only one with first class form during the English season.

And Boof has made his first hard call as coach - I hope that Watson opening is successful.

Does Rogers open or bat at 3? What of Cowan? He isn't that good but he has been better than most . . .

I'd like him to back in whoever he picks out of the new guys for the series. I think Hughes just has to play on basis of his continued improvement and talent. Shows much more in that regard than most. His desire and commitment will eventually pay dividends.

If it was a choice between Hughes & Rogers at 3, I'd go for Hughes. I think Rogers is versatile & experienced enough to come in at 5.

sounds like Watson's been inked in as the opener for 1st test, and still reckon his good mate Warner is the best person to join him at the other end. Though same time, Warner at #6 could do some serious damage a la Gilly

Watson's denial he had nothing to with Warner's disciplinary charges isn't overly convincing

Cross batted slogs in England have never worked and never will. A solid technique and patience will get you thru. Warner has neither of these.

Its out of him and Smith for the No6 spot. Personally, Id go Smith but I think CricAus will go Warner.

I had to laugh at the press conference the other day when Clarke's excuse for stepping down as a selector was "its a full time job". What a load of bullshit Michael.

Rogers
Watson
Hughes
Clarke
Kawahja
Warner
Haddin
Siddle
Starc
Pattinson
Lyon

That sound about right? I personally would have dropped Warner but the list of alternatives is Cowan . . .and that is it. Could bat Wade at 6. He might go ok if he doesn;t have to keep and he can bowl medium pacers too!

I think Special K will get 3 and Hughes 5 as per the last tour match.

Warner is an interesting one. Will be around 4 weeks since he has a had a bat against someone actually trying to get him out and wasn't exactly scoring runs before his Alistar Lynch haymaker.

Peter Siddle needs to get cracking too. 66.12.234.4 are not the figures you want your most senior bowling bringing into the first test.

Final tour match is tomorrow I think. Looking forward to it.

Agree with all of the above. I think this is the series (back to back series) where Special K has the opportunity to cement his spot in the side. Hopefully he takes his good tour match form into the first test (if selected )

We have won the toss and are batting first in the final tour match

Great to see Rogers get his chance. Finally, a professional cricketer who has piled on runs after runs after runs, season after season after season, and finally gets his reward again. From all accounts, Watson Rogers opening, Clarke and 4, Hughes at 5, Haddin at 7. Spots 3 & 6 up for grabs.

Interesting too that Siddle might be out, considering he has carried our attack for so many years now. Honestly thought he and Pattinson were locks. Looks like Patto and Starc are locks, with Harris, Bird , Faulkner and Siddle fighting it out for the last seamer spot. That said, Faulkner could also bat 6 yet.

Already love what Lehmann has brought to the table. So much common sense being displayed, it's scary!!
