Magnificent innings. Disappointing that he missed the century but only because it'd look nice on the record books. Best innings by a number 11 ever (run wise that is).

Given his age, that it's his debut, and the occasion, it was astonishing.

And Hughes: that was a great innings from him. Kept his head and looked solid.

It's my fault he didn't make a ton guys, got home and the only ball I see is the wicket :( I am sorry!

Great knock by both Hughes and Agar.

Best equipped number 3 in Australia, so they bat him at 5. What in hell are we thinking?

This Aussie team continues to annoy the hell out of me. As stated before, far too many so-called batsmen who play as if they want to get to the showers before the hot water runs out.

We are currently paying the price for an over-indulgence of mickey mouse pyjama cricket and, in the words of Ian Chappell, even if we wanted to do something about it (which we won't), it would take at least 5 years to reap the benefit.

Occupation of the crease, playing the appropriate shot to the correct ball, electing to leave the good ball whenever possible, respect for the bowling, good footwork .... and patience ..... a dying art amongst batsmen in Australian 1st class cricket.

Our major problem is these guys grew up watching the Haydens, Pontings, etc, destroy attacks with attacking cricket, but they don't realise they are limited and need to adapt to a different style in order to succeed.

He's quality. Doesn;t have the consistency yet, which is understandable, but got some fantastic deliveries. And he can make the ball dip.

Nice article from Ashley Mallett in Friday's Age.

Comes from a great height which definately helps him get the dip. His control has been fairly decent given his age an inexperience. Exciting times

Quality talent

Fascinating match. What's too much to chase for us? 220?

That would be about my limit. Need a big knock from Clarke to win the test I reckon
