The Crows Stars Got Snubbed?

Just watched the AFL's commercial for the 2009 AFL Premiership Season, great commercial.

However! I can not help but say I feel like Adelaide Stars got snubbed in this commercial. Focus is all on Judd, Brown, Cornes, Franklin, Ablett, Cooney etc. However the only footage you see of a Crows Player making an appearance is Nathan Bock for 3 seconds and he gets the "don't argue" from Adam Cooney!

That being said it was a great commercial in General. But this commercial makes me ask the question, Do our current stars McLeod, Goodwin, Bock, Thompson have the star power to do battle with the other stars of the game popularity wise? After watching this commercial maybe not.

It's all about the markets in which its played.

It's biggest viewing audience at any one time is Victoria and they wouldn't even notice if there was a non-Victorian in the ad.

its actually targeted at the Northern States. That would of been why the most famoud players were in it. In NSW and QLD most wouldnt even know who Bock is. They probably dont even know who Cornes is.

Its a pretty typical attitude tho' not just to AFC but to PAFC etc. Look at the pic of the Captains in the 'Tiser today. Could the WA's get any further away? I'm surprised Goody was standing between them.

Generally I liked the add. Good to see the AFL finally do a decent follow up of the "I'd like to see that" ads.
Still, I would have added:

• McLeod picking the ball up and a half volley and then tearing down a lacrosse field with players swiping sticks at him.
• Barry Hall had to be the one in the boxing ring! Surely!!
• Burton should have been taking the mark ahead of Kosi (would ANYONE in eastern states recognise Kozi??)
• One of the idigenous boys (Motlop) picking the ball up and snapping a goal around a wall on a soccer field (Beckham style).

Perhaps they could be used for the follow up commercial!!

Oh and in the next one it will have to finish with Walker strutting his way down a catwalk and then turning to look at the camera Cold steel style with a mouthguard and mullet flowing in the breeze!!

Maybe if he hadnt knocked out Staker - you'd have heard the furore from here if they thought that the AFL were making light or an in house joke about that.

It would have been more fitting if in taking the mark, Kossie got knocked out

Reiwoldt must have been out of town, he would have been a shoe-in given he is from Queensland.

I think in general it also focused more on the younger stars, would give the ad some longevity. Ie, probably why McLeod wasn't in and why Wells was in instead of Harvey and Deleidio instead of Richo, etc. I think Goodes and Brown are probably of the older guys, but again, they are big drawcards in those states that it is targeted for.
