It's only about 7 hours away till the Brownlow medal count starts, and we have our first "live" chance since Nathan Buckley was in his prime.

I would like to send a congratulations out to Dane Swan on a great year, and wish him and all our other players the best of luck tonight.

For those who maybe overseas or such, please update this thread for them at certain times throughout the night so they can keep up to date as to where Swanny is in the count.

For the record, I have done a little assessment and I really do think it will come down to the last 2 rounds, with Swan leading Ablett, Montagna and Goodes going into the final 2 games.

Good luck Swanny, make Gary Junior cry again.:thumbsu::p:D:eek:

Will there be a West/Richo feel at the Brownlow this year in regards to Swan?

He is the "lesser" known quantity so to speak compared to Judd, Ablett, Goodes etc.

Hopefully he can get up.

Would be an astounding achievement for him.

Good luck.

Hoping like hell Swanny will get up.
The last couple of rounds worry me - Ablett may catch him and pass him at the finish, but regardless, D. Swan done himself and the club proud this year. :thumbsu:

Go Swanny, you deserve it. Ablett has had a fantastic season, it would be hard to see him missing out yet again, but a tie could be on the cards for sure.

Will there be a West/Richo feel at the Brownlow this year in regards to Swan?

I doubt it, he hasn't been playing for 15 years like they were. West came 2nd or 3rd so many times everyone felt sorry for him and wanted him to win. And everyone loves Richo because he is such a character on the field and pretty funny on TFS and he played for a shit team.

I hope Swan wins it but my tip is Montanga for the win to and Ablett come 2nd by a vote and Swan a couple behind after leading for most of the season.

if Judd or Goodes win it, i dont think i will have a TV left on my wall
little umpire bum buddies they are
have 50 EW on swan :)

a great season by dane, 16 games of over 30 touches is a great effort regardless of what happens tonight, just did a quick summary and i think he will get 24 votes, pendlebury will take some early and didak through the middle of the year with leon here and there. on the other hand i would be very suprised if i get it anywhere near what the umpires see!

for the record, 3 votes in rounds 10, 13, 17 & 20
2 votes in rounds 5, 6, 15 & 18
1 vote in rounds 2, 9, 11 & 14

Good luck to Swanny. In all honesty, he hasn't been close to being the best player in the AFL this year, but if he can sneak a Brownlow, it'd be good for him.

I think it's bizarre that there's suddenly been a betting plunge on Ablett, the votes have been locked away for weeks and nothing has changed....except the odds for Swan are now a bit jucier

Gazza should be a monty this year, Swanny is the only danger along with Adam "hey i farted 3 votes!" Goodes.
FWIW i plonked $100 on Ablett and Cats over 39 and a half in the GF for a return of $1100. Good bet IMO get on.

Good luck Swanny. Great season again but for me Brownlow winners usually kick more goals (or at least relied on for the easy set shots) and that's probably, IMHO, where it will let him and down. But who knows? When were winning running good he was leading the way.

Ablett will win it easily.

Swan won't poll as expected, because the umpires prefer flashy players. Lenny Hayes will be runner up from Goodes, Judd and Black.

Unfortunately, that's how I see it happening. Hope I'm wrong.

Didn't he poll well 2 years ago.a much better player now then back then.

20 votes he polled 2 years ago, the last time we were a contender of sorts.

Last year he missed a few games, yet still won the Copeland.

he has absolutely smashed this year, it is really hard to see him lose
from round 9 onwards he should keep up a relentless attack with heaps of 1, 2 and 3 votes.
Swan should win, he doesnt have people taking votes off him like Geelong and Sainters players. He is always in and under the umpires eyes, stands out in games we win, kicks goals in games we win, so he should win

Forget about finals, Swanny waas brilliant all season. He deserves it as much as Ablett, if not more, I think.
He can upset Ablett, just like the Cats upset us.

GO SWANNY!

If he polls well before round 9 then he should win, after round 9 he was sensational...

I have 50 each way, so cmon Swanny :)

How many votes could he get before round 9? Maybe Adeleaide,Melbourne,Kangaroos and Essendon?

can't think of any more.
