Seen it ..... Loved it!

This is one of the most mesmorising films you will ever see. The script is extremely well put together with multiple strands coming together to weave a brilliant plot with plenty of unexpected turns.

The Joker (there was no Heath Ledger on that screen) was evil, sadistic and uncorruptable. If he wanted to do something, no one can change his mind. The character is perfectly designed around the comic and a slighty darker version of the Batman Animated version.

While the rest of the cast are in his exceptionally large shadow, the Bruce Wayne/Batman and Harvey Dent characters are very well done, particuarly Dent who has a prescence that is strong throughout the picture.

Look out for the joker's party trick with the pencil, just madness, while the array of Bat toys continues to expand quickly.

Batman goes through the wringer in this one and while there is no direct link to a number 3, the tone and direction of the next movie is definately worth dreaming of.

This is easily the best film of the year and one of the best of recent times. At 2.5 hours it is a long film but you really don't feel it (unless you had a jumbo coke).

Just got back from watching this and I can say that Moti is pretty much on the mark. I'm still a little breathless from the whole experience.

I don't know if Moti is a Batman enthusiast but I am one for keeping the original spirit of the source material alive. As far as I'm concerned, there is no Jack Nicholson Joker, or, um, maybe a spoiler alert, maybe not, a Tommy Lee Jones Two-Face. Both were rendered inconsequential by the performances of Heath and Aaron Eckhart (an actor that has generally disappointed me in all but 'Thank You For Smoking'). And the makeup/cgi work on these actors is absolutely sublime. Kudos to Nolan for allowing the reveal of The Joker before the movie's release and keeping his smoking gun intact with Harvey Dent. When you first see the monster he becomes, you will be hooked- if you weren't already. And Batman fans will nod in approval.

By the way, Heath is beautiful in this movie. And the Joker would have been even if Ledger's tragedy hadn't occured. This is close to being the finest performance by an actor ever. Ever. Knowing that I will only ever see this man in one more performance before his celluloid mark is snuffed out is truly heart-wrenching. He comes of age here, like a motherhashing supernova. A best-supporting actor Oscar will be his final mark on the world. Bookmark that.

Christian Bale is a pretty magical Bruce/Bats. The Batsuit seems a bit bulkier this time, especially around the mask, and this makes him even more menacing. The support cast is solid, Caine and Freeman class, Oldman fantastic, Gyllenhall sadly a bit throwaway but better than Katie Holmes. The set pieces are fantastic as well... there is a brilliant chase scene involving the debut of the Batcycle, and a scene in Japan took my breath away (go Skyhooks!).

It's a lengthy movie but rarely does it get a little tiring. I hope it makes a billion dollars, just to see this universe continue. As Moti mentioned, no direct link to another sequel (unlike Begin's 'calling card' ending which had geeks the world over cheering at the screen) but there is an entire world to explore. There is a very cheeky line in the movie that refers to the batsuit of being indestructible to cats that definitely pricked my ears.

See it.

Twice.

That scene could not sum up the joker more perfectly. Saw it last night and afterwards was left absolutely blown away. Casting is perfect, script even better. Amazing in every sense.

WoW! What a movie!
Went there with no preconceived thoughts about Heath Ledgers reported performance, but was blown away! His scenes in the hospital were amazing, I loved his leaving the hospital scenes :)
As a massive Batman fan (I've lost count of the Batman comics I've got, but according to my wife "I've got a more than unhealthy interest in comics for a guy thats 40!" I just explain to her, that's it's an investment in my kids futures lol :)
Fantastic movie, go see it!

Totally Agree.

Man it was awesome, saw it when it came out, close to 3 hours of awesomeness.

Heath ledger played a great Joker. Id see it again.

I loved it! It's hard to believe its a comic book film because it was so well scripted, directed and acted. Ledger was unreal.
"Wanna see a magic trick?" - favourite scene in whole film.

Best film of 2008. Hope Heath wins the best supporting oscar, should at least be nominated.
I don't know if anyone else felt this, but right from the first frame with the guy holding the mask at the street corner, I felt "this is gonna be awesome."

Was an impressive movie but the reaction to Ledger's Joker is a bit overdone.

He was good.........but not worthy of an Oscar. Let's be fairdinkum.

I think an Oscar nomination is reasonable, though I'd be tossing one the way of Eckhart as well.

Long way to the Oscars, of course, but Javier Bardem won one last year for playing a similarly unhinged villain, a performance slightly bettered by Heath.

Saying that, looks a pretty lean year for 'legitimate' contenders so I expect a nod.

Woah, that character rates No 1 of my all-time most evil badasses of film. Very scary.

I'm not one for the whole Batman thing or any sort of movie derived from comics or whatnot, but this flick has me really wanting to go and see it.

Looking forward to it, strangely enough.

Di Caprio in Blood Diamond > Heath in The Dark Knight.

Maybe. Couldn't help cringing at the accent becoming more British influenced in parts.

Casey Affleck in Jesse James > both.

Di Caprio was good, but how can you compare a guy that spent the entirety of the movie in front of the camera with a guy that popped up occasionally with intense bursts of brilliance?

Casey Affleck in Jesse James > both.

Not Casey 'The rumoured Riddler in Batman 3' Affleck?

This would work.

Heath Ledger is in some awesome company with those taking the Joker role. There may be other's?

Mark Hamill (voice in animated series)

Cesar Romero (TV series)

Heath Ledger as the Joker in Dark Knight is more manic and unrelenting than those before. What a great movie, Two-Face, disappearing pencil's, Batman's two-wheeler, the scariest/funniest nurse ever. Everyone's spot on with this one. See it :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Just saw it.

Impressive, but yeah, nah, only 6.5 out of 10 for mine.

Still, it's better than the usual 4 out of 10 I give most flicks I see, so this one must have been quite good.

But still, not as good as most people are going on about.
Yeah can't disagree. Maybe it was my fault and I read too many reviews and Dark Knight testimonies before seeing it, but I thought it was just good at best. I can't help but thinking people are getting carried away re Ledger prematurely awarding posthumous Oscars and the like. I wonder if his role would have gained so much praise if he hadn't so tragically left us.

Still, decent enough flick. Glad I saw it.
