Atkinson, Jarrod - 6 games. Still building up and starting to show promising signs. Has stringed together 6 consecutive games since kicking off his season against the Hawks. Rating: 5.5

Bellchambers, Tom - 0 games. We wait in hope for the Bell-end. Rating: N/A

Carlisle, Jake - 0 games. Unlikely to get a game this year. Rating: N/A

Colyer, Travis - 4 games. Some promising signs along with some genuine grass-burning speed. A scattered form line with some question marks over disposal execution. Rating: 5.0 (a good but not spectacular first year thus far)

Daniher, Darcy - 0 games. Yet to feature but not might be that far. Rating: N/A

Davey, Alwyn - 8 games. An ordinary start to the year, resulting in getting dropped for three rounds but returned with a bang against Hawthorn. Has kicked 10 goals and laid 40 tackles in his last 6 games. Without doubt the most important small forward at the moment. Rating: 8.0

Dempsey, Courtenay - 11 games. Just entered a dip in form in the last few weeks after a good start to the season. Consistency a massive question as he was in AA-form this time last year but faded badly. Only 4 tackles laid in his last 3 games. Needs to lift. Rating: 6.5

Dyson, Ricky - 6 games. Has been out of action for over a month due to injury. Was solid but not jaw-dropping to start the season. Massive game against Carlton and a few other good outings. Decent effort but needs to pick up to get back in and stay in. Rating: 6.0 (injury affected slightly)

Fletcher, Dustin - 10 games. Refuses to die. Brilliant form and throws his body time and time again. Second half will be a massive challenge to keep him fit. Rating 9.0

Gumbleton, Scott - 11 games. General (realistic) expectations were for him to play a dozen games and get a good feel for it. He's already played 11 . Has learned quickly that he is drawing the very best KPs to run with him. 15.10 from 11 games is a solid start. Only 21 marks from his last 5 games, needs to boost that but it will come naturally. Rating: 8.5

Hardingham, Kyle - 0 games. We are waiting. Rating: N/A

Hille, David - 11 games. Has a had a great season so far and showing few (if any) signs of a knee injury. One or two games where he has gone missing but otherwise very consistent. Fantastic work rate and loves to fill a hole up forward or down back (ahem). Rating: 8.0

Hocking, Heath - 11 games. No surprises he's played 11 games. Built like a brick shithouse and runs like a bull. Has played some huge games for us this year and looks set to cement a place in the 22. Rating: 8.5

Hooker, Cale - 8 games. Eagerly await his return after fantastic showing in the first half of the season. Our best KP defender thus far. Consistency has been a trait. Rating: 9.0

Houli, Bachar - 2 games. Found the ball a fair bit in his two games earlier this season but ball use continues to be a worry. Anyone's guess as to where he'll fit into our plans both for the remainder of this season and going forward. Rating: 4.0

Howlett, Ben - 7 games. Has done almost everything that was asked of him considering he's a rookie. 34 tackles in his last 5 games as been a feature of his defensive efforts. Pressure will be on to hold his form and will undoubtedly be subject to unfair selection as more senior and favoured midfielders begin to settle in to the season. Rating: 6.5

Hurley, Michael - 8 games. An ordinary start to the season and perhaps a victim of both expectation and positional utilisation. 8 goals for the year, half came against Hawthorn, with some alright (if questionable) efforts so far down back. Needs to lift. Rating: 5.5

Jetta, Leroy - 4 games. 7 goals thus far and a brilliant showing against the Dogs places Leroy in the good books after a late kick off to the season. May very well be the perfect partner in crime with Davey as he adds another dimension to the forward line. I feel he will feature more prominently in the midfield as the season goes on and he builds up the confidence within himself and the coaching staff. Rating: 7.0 (only 4 games remember)

Laycock, Jason - 0 games. Poor bloke to have suffered a season, and probably career (@essendon), ending injury. Rating: N/A

Lonergan, Sam - 7 games. Can't fault his attack on the ball but apart from that there's little to like about his season thus far. One can't help but feel his filling up space for an injured player (Reimers/Dyson) to return. Rating: 4.5 (harsh, but fair)

Long, Anthony - 0 games. Looking forward to seeing him play a game or two in the second half. Rating: N/A

Lovett-Murray, Nathan - 7 games. Often struggles with consistency after a lay off from injury or suspension. Has been excellent when on song this year and has racked up the possies. Awesome engine and so far Waton's best inside-mid partner in the middle. Has been forced to play a bit more down back in the absence of KPs. Rating: 8.0

Melksham, Jake - 7 games. Inconsistent finding the ball but has proven why we picked him at #10 when he uses it. Expect him to be rotated in and out of the team but given this is his first year he's put up a solid showing. Rating: 7.5

McVeigh, Mark - 8 games. An ordinary start but has found his feet and is settling in for a big season. Has grown to prominence down back where his experience (for a small defender) has been sorely missed at times. Likely to stay there as there is no injury crisis to our midfielders. Rating: 7.5

Monfries, Angus - 9 games. Continues with consistency issues, even after a decent start to the season. Won't need to fight hard to get back in the team, as the coaches love him, but may have a challenge on his hands [strike]if[/strike] when Williams comes in and starts hitting his straps. Rating: 7.5

Myers, David - 5 games. Injuries to KP defenders not helping his claim to becoming a prominent midfielder. Has done reasonably well over the last month but has a long way to go. Rating: 5.5

Neagle, Jay - 1 game. When Harry Potter asks "Who is the wizard thy not name?", the muggles say "Neagle" for fear of seeing him again. A poor preseason but worked hard to be fit for game 1. That turnover continues to haunt his selection. Monsterous hill to climb from here, especially with Ryder and Hille being rotated out of the forward line rather than off the bench or down back. Rating: 1.0

Pears, Tayte - 8 games. Continues to rise to prominence, if given a bath by Riewoldt of the Jack variety. But in fairness, his first game back from injury. Not quite in the same form as '09 but not far from it. Hoping for a big second half. Rating: 7.0

Prismall, Brent - 8 games. I thought I heard stump mic pick up "can't bowl, can't throw". Can't kick, can't think. Poor decision maker and desperately needs to rectify this issue. Could compliment Stanton nicely on the opposite wing if he finds his game. Rating: 6.0

Reimers, Kyle - 4 games. Showed a bit in the first month of footy but injury has prevented any effort to find his niche in the team. Once fit, should be up for a big 2nd half. Rating: 5.5

Ryder, Patrick - 11 games. Has played every game and scored in 8 games for a return of 12 goals. Very ordinary start to the season but has found some hot form. The pressure of '09 will well and truly return for the next fortnight as becomes the clear first choice ruckman. Laying plenty tackles, tacking enough marks and kicking a few goals suggesting his round-the-ground efforts have been right up there of any AFL ruckman. Rating: 8.0 (a slow starter for '10)

Slattery, Henry - 7 games. Probably our best small defender with Mcveigh. Played a blinder against Cyril and has been decent for the remainder of the season before a shocker against Port the following week. Pressures on for a player who divides opinion more than most as to whether he can assert himself back in the 22 as a key small defender. Rating: 6.0

Slattery, Tyson - 0 games. Rating: N/A

Stanton, Brent - 9 games. Has given us some massive games and provides our midfield with a bit more assurance than otherwise would be afforded to any other midfielder. Only needs to get fit once again before firing. Question marks over his back injury and the extent it may play in the 2nd half. Rating: 8.5

Still, Michael - 0 games. May be a long time before we see him. Rating: N/A

Watson, Jobe - 11 games. Captain Consistent. Each game is pretty much identical to the last. Has done extremely well at the clearances but desperately needs a partner to take the weight off a tag. Rating: 9.0

Welsh, Andrew - 7 games. A very good game to mark his return after a gutless suspension serve. Has done some important tagging jobs but by no means a certainty in our best 22. Pretty hard to rate him but he should be primed for a big 2nd half given his one month lay off. Rating: 6.5

Williams, Mark - 4 games. I'm justttttttt ... not seeing the work rate. An encouraging showing against the Blues but since then it's been mixed results down at Bendigo. We need to work with him to get back into the senior team doing what he does best. No doubting what he can do for the team... but what can he do for himself? Rating: 5.0

Winderlich, Jason - 11 games. An average first five rounds but has taken the next step in the next 6 games. In excellent form and should look to continue to be our #1 attacking midfielder who breaks the lines. Has handled the "Lovett" role reasonably well. Rating 7.5

Zaharakis, David - 11 games. 15 goals from 11 games but some questionable work ethic. Has not failed to kick a goal on any outing. At the start of the season he was earmarked as having the most upside of any young attacking midfielder coming through. Works predominantly inside 50 and perhaps destined to remain there? Perhaps needing to be rotated further up the field but he is kicking the goals. Rating 7.5

I'll rate players on what i've seen of them, if i have.

Atkinson, Jarrod
- 6 games. Has improved from last year, but from recent matches his previous habits are starting to re-occur. It's good that he's been given the opportunity to find a way into the team however.Rating: 6

Bellchambers, Tom - 0 games. Has definitely improved from last year. From what i've seen his kicks are still a little off but i've heard he's improved. Looking forward to seeing him play this week, if he is. Rating: 3?

Carlisle, Jake - 0 games. Unlikely to get a game this year. Rating: N/A

Colyer, Travis - 4 games. He looks like a player that in future has the potential to be a match-winner, but right now he needs to improve his kicking for sure, but otherwise has been playing quite well. Rating: 5

Daniher, Darcy - 0 games. Haven't seen him play for a while now. Rating: N/A

Davey, Alwyn - 8 games. Didn't start off too well, got dropped, and has definitely shown improvement. He's gotten as good if not better than his 2007 form. Rating: 7.5

Dempsey, Courtenay - 11 games. Hmm, first few games and last few games he hasn't played so well. He had a very good patch of form in between however. Definitely needs to lift. He was obviously trying to redeem himself at the end of the match after the 100 metre penalty, so hopefully he continues that this week :D Rating: 7

Dyson, Ricky - 6 games. Was consistent until he got injured but his form wasn't as good as his form last year. Expect him to continue to play a part in this season in continually solid form :thumbsu: Rating: 6.5

Fletcher, Dustin - 10 games. Easily one of the best this year. It's amazing that a player his age can still be in just good form and in such a good position to win the B&F. I hope he continues next year and I know everyone else does too. Rating 10

Gumbleton, Scott - 11 games. Most of us are just impressed that he's played more than 3 games this year. Let alone improve as much as he has. Definitely increasing in confidence every game and I can't wait to see him in a few years time. Rating: 8.5

Hardingham, Kyle - 0 games. Rating: N/A

Hille, David - 11 games. Didn't start so well but gradually improved throughout the season. Following injuries to Pears and Hooker his role as a Ruck/Forward came into play and he seemed to be very well utilized in this position. We will miss him for the next two weeks but I hope Bellchambers can show some good signs in that time. Rating: 9

Hocking, Heath - 11 games. Has played extremely well recently. I'd say his only off game would be the match he noticeably ran out of legs (Port?, or was it earlier?), leading to Knights giving some running training sessions, and ever since he's been outstanding. Is definitely becoming one of our most underrated players. Rating: 9

Hooker, Cale - 8 games. Has improved a lot from last year. He has been very promising, bar the one clanger every game. Hope he returns from injury in the form he was in before he did his hammy. Rating: 8.5

Houli, Bachar - 2 games. He hasn't played terribly but he obviously isn't a part of Knights gameplan. Very likely to head to the Gold Coast at the end of the year. Rating: 4.0

Howlett, Ben - 7 games. Has played very well for a rookie. If we weren't to consider that however, it would probably be average form for a midfielder. Fits into the gameplan quite well and will probably be unlucky to miss games this season. Fair effort. Rating: 6.5

Hurley, Michael - 8 games. It's pretty evident certain events prior to the start of the season, have affected his game. He's currently being utilized quite well in the position/s he's been playing. Has only scored 8 goals so far but I'm looking forward to at least a 50% increase in his total goals in two weeks time :D Rating: 6.5

Jetta, Leroy - 4 games. Wow. After returning from an unlucky injury it's quite evident how hard he worked in the pre-season. Has improved so much from last year and is in career best form. Rating: 8 (would have more if he played more)

Laycock, Jason - 0 games. One Word: Unlucky. Rating: N/A

Lonergan, Sam - 7 games. Hasn't played terribly but is probably going to be replaced by a better player. Rating: 5

Long, Anthony - 0 games. Rating: N/A

Lovett-Murray, Nathan - 7 games. Since his return from suspension, he's played excellently. Beginning with that 30+ disposal return 100th Game Milestone, his form has been very consistent. Rating: 8.0

Melksham, Jake - 7 games. Has played very well this year. Easily the best out of our draftees so far. Was playing well even when we were losing and these are very good signs. Rating: 7.5

McVeigh, Mark - 8 games. Didn't start very well this year, but has gradually adjusted to his back pocket position on small forwards. Rating: 7

Monfries, Angus - 9 games. Has been playing quite well this season. Needs to be consistent and may have some trouble getting back into the team if Mark Williams manages to give a ****, which is unlikely. Rating: 6.5

Myers, David - 5 games. Has showed signs of why we chose him before Palmer. Is definitely improving and has the potential to be a great player at our club. Rating: 6

Neagle, Jay - 1 game. Ever since round 1, his confidence has been a little down, which is why he hasn't been able to fight his way back into the team (eh, poor choice of words). But apparently he's lost a few kilos so he definitely looks promising in a few rounds time. Rating: 3

Pears, Tayte - 8 games. Hasn't played as well as last year but he continues to be consistent, and thats all we really need. Rating: 7.5

Prismall, Brent - 8 games. Definitely gets a lot of ball, but it isn't gamebreaking, merely relatively solid (sometimes). Gets a few annoying clangers, otherwise fine. Rating: 6.0

Reimers, Kyle - 4 games. Has played well, but unfortunately missed a lot of matches. Rating: 5.5

Ryder, Patrick - 11 games. Didn't start too well but has improved as the season has progressed. The Hille/Ryder combo is definitely going to be something to look forward to. Rating: 8.0

Slattery, Henry - 7 games. Was in great form before he got injured. Is solid and definitely cops too much undeserved flack. Look forward to his return. Rating: 7

Slattery, Tyson - 0 games. Rating: N/A

Stanton, Brent - 9 games. Very important player. Is probably out fittest player and it's evident on the ground. Rating: 9.5

Still, Michael - 0 games. Rating: N/A

Watson, Jobe - 11 games. Every game he plays now is so consistent that it doesn't look like he'll every break this chain. Is a great leader on the field. Rating: 9.5

Welsh, Andrew - 7 games. Didn't start off the season so well and had his best game the match he got suspended for ball kicking. His Vice-captaincy had started to become a reason people thought he was picked to play every match. Should have a better second half. Rating: 5

Williams, Mark - 4 games. Lazy. Hasn't kicked enough goals and has played in form that makes many question the reason we drafted him. Evidently shows the ability to kick goals with little effort, but didn't do it hardly as much as we would've wanted. Expecting him to kick many more goals in his return. Rating: 5.0

Winderlich, Jason - 11 games. Was average at the start of the year and made some very questionable decisions including the moment in the match against port when he tried to pass it off, instead passing it to Chad Cornes. Has definitely improved recently and is utilizing his speed well. Rating 7.5

Zaharakis, David - 11 games. He has played relatively well but definitely needs to work on his kicking, seeing has he's kicked as many behinds and he's had goals and is obviously a viable target in the forward 50. Rating 7.5

Either these rankings are out of 15, or we're sitting at about 8-3, not 5-6!

Other than that, reasonably happy with the distribution, other than a couple of comments:

Lonergan, Sam - 7 games. Can't fault his attack on the ball but apart from that there's little to like about his season thus far. One can't help but feel his filling up space for an injured player (Reimers/Dyson) to return. Rating: 4.5 (harsh, but fair)

Myers, David - 5 games. Injuries to KP defenders not helping his claim to becoming a prominent midfielder. Has done reasonably well over the last month but has a long way to go. Rating: 5.5

Rating: 6.0

Welsh, Andrew - 7 games. A very good game to mark his return after a gutless suspension serve. Has done some important tagging jobs but by no means a certainty in our best 22. Pretty hard to rate him but he should be primed for a big 2nd half given his one month lay off. Rating: 6.5

A bit harsh by comparison on these 4.

Lonergan still doesn't rack up the stats, but has pushed his average up slightly on last year, whilst also improving his goals per game. He also has the 2nd highest contested possession ratio (44%) of our mids, behind only Jobe (46%) who is leading the comp for contested possessions.

Myers, despite 1 or 2 shockers, has put in some more solid outings than guys rated above him;

Slatts played most of that Port match injured and was lauded for his commitment (although Spike has done very well in his place since);

Welshy IMO was our Best in Round 1 against the Cats, winning the clearances when we had our 2nd/3rd quarter purple patches. He was also probably our best this week; and as you mentioned played well vs the Hawks.

Rating 7.5

Williams should rate much closer to Neagle's 1.0; and definitely not above Lonergan's 4.5;

Licha, whilst he has lifted in recent weeks, has still overall been disappointing this season and cannot be considered as in the 'Lovett' role with 0 goals 7 behinds to his name (and a couple that dropped short in the last quarter on Sunday at crucial moments). Really need him to get his goalkicking confidence and accuracy back to '09 standard ASAP.

Gumbleton, Scott - 11 games

Who would've thought that 11 weeks ago. Can't help but smile at that.:)

Here are my thoughts!

Atkinson, Jarrod
- Some good patches but hasn't cemented a spot, which is what he has to do sometime soon. Rating: 5

Bellchambers, Tom - Two BOGs in recent weeks for Bendigo by reports, but Bendigo isn't the senior team. Rating: N/A

Carlisle, Jake - 0 games. Unlikely to get a game this year. Rating: N/A

Colyer, Travis - Worked hard but the reward wasn't always there.. Rating: 4

Daniher, Darcy - 0 games. Yet to feature but not might be that far. Rating: N/A

Davey, Alwyn - Agree. Rating: 8.0

Dempsey, Courtenay - Agree. Rating: 6.5

Dyson, Ricky - Agree. Rating: 6.5

Fletcher, Dustin - Agree. Rating 9.0

Gumbleton, Scott - Good, but mostly because of consistency. Will hope for a second half to the season now he's got a run going. Rating: 7

Hardingham, Kyle - We are waiting. Rating: N/A

Hille, David - Very up and down. Brilliant at times but still struggling to bring that form every week. Rating: 7

Hocking, Heath - Most improved. Rating: 9

Hooker, Cale - Was looking good before he went down. Rating: 8

Houli, Bachar - Looks like a trade is coming. Rating: 3

Howlett, Ben - His best has been great but he has struggled for consistency over 4 quarters. Rating: 6

Hurley, Michael - Has played well in moments but has looked like he has struggled with his body a little at times. Hope for a return to his promise in the second half of the year. Rating: 5

Jetta, Leroy - Has been great. Who cares if it's only 4 games. He's been amazing. Rating: 9.0

Laycock, Jason - Injured. Rating: N/A

Lonergan, Sam - Filling holes but hasn't shown he's in our best team. Rating: 4.5

Long, Anthony - Rating: N/A

Lovett-Murray, Nathan - Up and down with his absences from the team. Would hope to get a good consistent run over the rest of the reason. Rating: 7.5

Melksham, Jake - Promising but very in and our of games. Rating: 5.5

McVeigh, Mark - Playing with humility and doing a great job. Rating: 8

Monfries, Angus - Solid and underappreciated. Rating: 7.5

Myers, David - A great run of games since he came back into the team. Rating: 6

Neagle, Jay - What? Rating: 3

Pears, Tayte - Been down on what we'd hoped, but still doing ok. Rating: 6.5

Prismall, Brent - The new Stanton as far as scapegoats go. Better side with him in it. Rating: 7

Reimers, Kyle - Hasn't been in the side due to injury and hasn't made a huge impact. Rating: 5

Ryder, Patrick - Had a better start than Hille even if down on what we'd hoped. Has been consistently good for the last 5 weeks. Rating: 9

Slattery, Henry - His good games have been overrated, and his bad games exaggerated. Rating: 5.5

Slattery, Tyson - Rating: N/A

Stanton, Brent - Only one or two bad games and a couple of BOGs. Rating: 9

Still, Michael - Rating: N/A

Watson, Jobe - Playing like a leader. Rating: 9

Welsh, Andrew - Agree. Rating: 6.5

Williams, Mark - I have no idea why we got him in the first place. Rating: 4.0

Winderlich, Jason - Shows glimpses without destroying a game. Rating 7

Zaharakis, David - Reliable but should have kicked more goals. Rating 7

pretty good ratings all

i'm a bit miffed that everyone is rating gumby higher than hurley this year.
is that down to expectation, ie. none for gumby, much for hurley?

because on output, on the games they've played this year, hurley has been better imo.

ok, well we can agree to disagree.

i certainly wouldn't say gumby is worth an 8.5, and hurley a 5.5 in comparison

Yeah like I said, ratings are curbed to expectations. If I removed expectations and had a level playing field then Gumby would be a 7ish for mine.

Like I said, a lot of posters here agreed that a dozen games and a goal average of 1.5 a game would suffice as part of getting him through his first season. He's achieved that so what are his expectations now?
