Alright so this idea was tossed up during the cricket draft, but has yet to come to fruition. So here it is...
Couple of ideas -
1) Just your standard, run of the mill draft game.
2) Player auctions, where you must purchase players to fill you team.
With the player auction, each team will have a salary cap which they can use however they desire and on whoever they desire, however you must have a team of 22 players at the end. A list of players will be released each day (possibly with a reserve price, stopping silly bids) in which participants will bid on players/not bid on players if they don't want them. I think the best course of action will be a silent auction, thus PM'ing a neutral party with your bid before a certain time.
Who's keen? And what format?
