Out of curiosity, if we pick up Daicos jr, do we break recent tradition and give him 35 to keep?

You couldn't possibly not give him 35, could you?

Also, if Marley leaves, we may have a replacement 26 too.

Has anyone seen JD play in the number 35? I'm all for the romance of it and if he asked for it, I think we should scrap the tradition but who knows the kid might want to be famous for his own jumper number. Whatever that may be.

This first drafted player wearing number 35 thing is just stupid, has been since the concept was first used a few years back.

42 is the only Collingwood number that has any condition attached to it at all, and that's in the Millane familys hands as to whether that's ever used again.

Someone should be wearing 35 next year, and it should not be our first drafted player. If Josh doesn't want it, let Sier keep it for a second year.

Time to end this silly tribute to Presti.

I say Malthouse gives his medal to Presti then Eddie can write to the AFL to send us out a second medal.

Dont feel an attachment to numbers on backs. Not sure what the big deal is. Also not fond of waving flags around (unless its a premiership flag of course:D).

Actions speak louder than...than...numbers and flags.

My nephew shits me with the flag waving. Although I don't mind listening to the 'national anthem'. Did anyone catch Ed last night at the end?

Not seeing or knowing of any person wanting the, 35 for the first drafted player continuing.
I'm quite sure Alex Fasolo, was the first off them.
I'm for it to be dropped.
But I'd drop the 42 thing as well.
It's been long enough, time to move on, but now you hear it's tied to the family which is kind of nice but specific families shouldn't be dictating policy, but anyway that's my issue.

We used to gave captain wearing 1 and VP wearing 2.
First captain not to take the 1 and retain his number was Ray Shaw keeping the 23.

Didn't Malthouse get Daisy's medal :D

There's two Daicos boys coming eventually though, so one or both of them will be in a number that's not 35, assuming they're both drafted by us.
Isn't the younger one tracking to be better?Maybe giving them 34 and 36 could be a solution if they're both interested in the number. Wouldn't care much if it were me but it could add to the excitement for fans if we had another Daicos and he was wearing 35

Maybe throw it to a vote of members on what happens with 42. My personal view is retire it for good unless the family want to see it on the field again.

Daicos made 35 his own and to have another Daicos add to the legacy would be awesome. Having 30 worn by Peter Moore's kid and having Darcy honour that the way it looks like he will, fantastic!

I assure you we're taking both.

If one of them doesn't get to keep the 35, then our club has no direction.

Giving it to one of the Daicos boys gives the club a convenient out. Hope they use it.

I don't lose sleep over the whole 35 thing but I'd rather see a Daicos wear it than have us continue with the whole Presti/first pick thing.

Yep, also, it's time to let go of 42. He died 25 years ago. He was a footballer in the end, not a philanthropist who dedicated his life to needy children.

So 42 should just be permanently retired?

Come on. That's ridiculous.

No it's not and that's a pretty insensitive comment. Doesn't matter if it was 1 week ago or 25 years ago, he was the man who the 'Clubman' award was named after and if it's the club's desire to retire that number, so be it.
