To coincide with the release of Volume 6 of Death Note in Australia, I thought I would create this thread to for those who want to discuss this anime.

Who are your favorite characters? Did the ending resolves everything for you? Do you think Lights actions can be justified?

I really hated Light and I couldn't believe how many sympathisers he had on fan forums. It wasn't just what he was doing that I disliked but it was the way in which he went about it. It was never about creating a new world, it was always about him seeing himself as a god and his ridiculously conceited nature.

There was only one real way the show could of ended and I thought it was done extremely well, however, I really disliked Near and I think it would of been slightly better and more ironic if he had of been undone by the members of the taskforce rather than by the genius' Near and Mello.

Overall I thought the show was brilliant and the highlights for me were, the mind battles between L and Light, the soundtrack, Ryuk and the final episode.

Have to agree with you and the soundtrack, was absolutely fantastic. I really liked Light, mainly because I thoroughly hated Near and Mello. Carbon copies of L, I mean come on! They could of come up with something better than that.

I disliked the way it ended. I thought they left so many loose ends untied, and was left wanting more.

I wanted to know what happens to Light when he dies. It says nothingness, but I am willing to bet he would of become a shinigami

I thought the ending was quite poetic, Ryuk foreshadowed in the first episode that if Light were to succeed in his creation of a new world that he would be the only bad person left. His death could therefore be interpreted as the completion of his vision. Thats how I read it anyway, and I was really impressed with how well the ending was done.

Absolutely blew me away - I honestly believe that the author, Tsugumi Ohba is a literary genius. Apparently Warner Bros. bought the rights for it and are coming out with a movie for it.

He has another series, Bakuman, which just finished this week, I recommend it for all manga readers. Really really interesting and fun show to watch.
