the 3 kings hand is not great, but i've seen worse. at least it was a high pair.
the thing is your chances of hitting a set on the flop go from 1 in 8 to 1 in 16. having the ace helps because obviously you've still got top pair if an ace hits the flop....
the T987 hand is a very good hand that you hit very hard on the flop with two pair and god knows how many straight draws.

had a real hard session tonight over 150 hands (2 x $25 buy-in's at $0.10/$0.25 blinds). just couldn't get any momentum going, was down about $20.00 at one stage but got this hand to get me just in front for the session.
decided that would do me and quit a few hands later for the night.
i really backed my read that this guy would definately bet this flop and i could get my money in with the best hand. he had already lived up to his name (berzerk) so i thought no reason for him not to do it again.
i still had some cards to dodge.
but seriously?? as if i had anything but AAxx in this spot. as if at 0.25/0.50 levels anyone is going to bet the pot from the big blind into almost the entire table after an under the gun raise, risking playing the hand out of position with anything less than AAxx. Actually even at nose bleeds level the person in my spot would always turn up with AAxx or a mega drawing hand like QJT9 double suited.

Berzerk's mistake is not folding preflop given his hand doesn't play well against AAxx and you're shortstacked, but that's a dream flop for him. Money was always going to go in regardless of how you played it.

i suppose he was about 35% pre flop and post flop so it wasn't a massive bad beat... but still it sucks.
i should've re-raised pre flop. gave him way too much credit but had only just sat down and at this level a lot of people don't raise with anything other than AAxx.
