Is it time to have a democratic world government so that we have a jurisdiction that these scum bags can't get around? Will people go to jail for subverting the ability for the government to build a public purse large enough to provide the infrastructure and community welfare required?

It seems like a lot of these companies tax arrangements would be ****ed if we raised interest rates.

Maybe that’s what we should do.

How do we stop large corporations using public funds to build infrastructure, train their workforce and subsidise their businesses, yet not contributing their share of the cost? Paradise papers are just out now. It will take a while for journalists to go through it. Once it comes out in full detail many centre-left parties will ride this to electoral gains. However, it is still not enough. The biggest problem we have is the plutocracy of private funds driving "democratic" politics and companies being able to move from one jurisdiction to another.

Will be interesting which way the west goes when Corbyn finally takes power in UK and the Bernie wing win in the US. It probably will be a bit like the Reagan-Thatcher revolution but in reverse. While anything has to be better than the inequity and environmental damage we have seen grow over the last 4 decades a return to Keynesian style economics will be problematic now. The off-shoring of most manufacturing will render their levers impotent and an excessive increase in consumerism will cause to further depletion of natural resources and an increase in carbon output.

While our Labor party is dreary and lacking in ideas, as well as also beginning to appeal to base politics due to their cowardice facing up to the Murdoch press, we also see the Liberal party deeply divided thanks to the prevalence of conservative loons like Abbott, Andrews and the ghost of Bernardi. Interesting times, though I expect the media owned by the business community and still outrating any thinking media thanks to sport and their "stars" while hijack this. I expect the message to be "thank god we have less of that nasty stuff being said, but lets ensure the economic strategy continues to deepen the divide between rich and poor". Of course these economic policies set up the situation for the poor and working class to open their minds to demagoguery and xenophobic scape goating.

A world government would be a bad idea IMO, The U.N is enough, & even that is open to corruption as the U.S & Israel demonstrates time & again....What has given rise to this phenomenon is weak National governments cow-towing to the elites & Multi-Nationals in allowing for so many escape clauses, in using their internationalism to avoid paying any tax at all.

Governments are weak because they have no choice. Companies can just take their business elsewhere. The UN is meaningless and just a plaything for the leaders of the cold war. Meaningless is harsh, toothless is probably more correct. Israel doesn't dominate. It is overwhelmingly voted against. It is just the corruption of the US veto that stops Israel from being called to account. Not that white Australians can talk as our long term treatment towards aboriginal Australia has clearly had a more negative impact. Even if the worst excesses are not as recent.

If we don't have a world government then we need a second UN type body. I can envisage something like an ethical UN. One where you need to have a certain level of democracy, rule of law and freedom of labor unions to be a member of. These countries can have a free trade agreement because they are operating on a level playing field. Then to export to this block other countries can have tariffs placed on their goods that are created on a sliding scale based upon how close they are to meeting these conditions. For example, if a SE Asian country has no unions, democracy and their legal system is not up to scratch then they have prohibitive tariffs applied to their goods.

The other thing that needs to be sorted is a revenue chasing organisation. Just like the US has (before the current Republican federal politicians remove it) a rebate on federal taxes for state taxes paid, perhaps this international body can have a corporate tax. If you pay these taxes to a country then you get a rebate. This will fund the organisation and allow them to enforce international law (terrorism, genocide and environmental) and fight poverty around the world. This should be part of the world democracy.

The other reason that I like a world government is it will allow us to break nations down into smaller and smaller entities. For example Catalonia vs Spain. Rather than need to have a big nation, who cares if you're part of a larger entity. Allow nations to be more representative of smaller circles of ethnic groups to manage specific cultural and geographic-based issues while the world government does the bigger picture work like climate change and stopping large scale conflict.

Governments do have a choice....The U.S under Clinton passed NAFTA which effectively delivered over to the multi-nats the ability to dictate where they situated their manufacturing plants thereafter....And just look at the result thereafter.....Half the U.S is now living in poverty because of it.

That was due to corruption pure & simple....Of congressmen allowing themselves to be bought in selling out their own country....That's treason....And the fundamental driving force that has enabled all of this to transpire, is in allowing private bankers to run the Fed based upon a debt society, rather than the U.S being in control of it's own Fed reserve & printing it's own money on it;s terms.

Just a prediction, but we seem to be heading towards a tyrannical system of world governance more so than beckoning a Sanders type revolution any time soon. The grassroots are tracking towards an insufficient human value while the technological displacement and lashing out will just as likely end with a teflon leader even more sinister than some distasteful, fat reality star.

The world gets more sinister but old 'sinister' often remains the same.

Who would have thunk it, global business conglomerates/royalty will use every means at their disposal to avoid as much tax as possible and to keep their power.

The global economic system is f....d, I have no solution. Once the mega elite work out how to get AI to do all the menial tasks that the plebs do for them now we will have outlived our usefulness and the mass culling can begin. A limited number will be kept on as a curiosity, for entertainment value and to indulge their sick pedophilia tendencies.

A bit of Homeostasis is required to keep the system functional with respect to a goal (society). The US created a treasury, court and government to watch each other's backs and therefore to regulate the system in the best interests of society, but all three are now geared towards 'munny'.

Munny is not equal to a society.
Munny (and the want of munny) creates value, even where value may not be there (not equal to 'actual' value).
Being able to get heaps and heaps of munny is not necessarily innovative.
Controlling supply and influencing demand is not equal to 'actual' value.

There is only a finite amount of resources a person requires in their lifetime, any more is greed. Conversely, there is a minimum a person requires, and as a society is the sum of all the members, this should also be respected.

Actually, the US is winning from NAFTA thanks to the slavery in private prisons.

Why do governments need to be sinister? Unfetted power by the richest people in the world turns out to be more sinister unchecked by democracy.

Nothing better comes from bigger government.

The idea of a world government is ridiculous IMO. It would be ineffective, and that's probably the nicest thing you could say about that concept.

While it's more of a pseudo-government, you only need to look at the UN as a perfect example.

The days of empires are gone. We don't need them back.

As far as corporate issues go, it's obviously not ideal that people can hide their money and game the system to avoid paying what reasonable people would determine is fair and lawful. There are ineffective international monetary regulators (branching from the UN I believe). If literally every nation signed up to the rules AND abided by them, it would go a long way to solving the problems. Unfortunately, there's no carrot big enough to make some struggling nations give up their tax haven status since it's probably all they have.

Am banned from the Trump thread & this video is a complete sleight on the Conservative thread, So I guess this is as good a place as any given we're talking about the World establishment elite n all.

Won't get that time back. So there's someone else that hates Jews and the States? Could be worse. We could have Islamic overlords.

So....Any chance of actually debating the points raised there?....Or are you frightened of truth, history & substance?

And Yes....An Israeli company does has the contract to build the Mexican wall....Because after all....What other country is more expert at imposing an apartheid state than them?

Not at this time of night, plus you've said it all before. Got a link for the Jew wall?

The one in Palestine?....Or do you mean the contractors for the Mexican Wall?....There's already a thread for that, so I'll post it in there.

We need to wipe out the festering plague called Neoliberalism that's infecting our planet. Or capitalism in general if you want to take it further. (and I would)
Tax evasion has reached epidemic levels but is a mere symptom of a larger disease.

Corruption has become oppressively systemic in western "democracies", which are rotting from the inside as the modern-day robber barons gorge themselves as they carve off hunks of tainted meat and speculate on the value of the carcass. Everyone knows this can't last much longer, I just hope these bloodsucking parasites face justice of the guillotine variety when the music finally stops and the screams begin.
