The Pokemon Thread

Recently got back into playing Pokemon on my laptop as a way of distracting myself of completing homework from uni, and it evoked many memories of my childhood spent on the Gameboy building up a party of six formidable Pokemon.

Thought it'd be a good idea to create a thread where we could post some of our favourite Pokemon memories, memorable battles, favourite games/generations/regions, favourite Pokemon. I searched the forum and couldn't see a similar thread, but apologies if there is one.

My favourite generation is probably the first one in the Kanto region, closely followed by Hoenn. Never played any of the Pokemon after the third generation because I never had a DS and could never get a good, working emulator.

Charmander was my favourite starter Pokemon from the first generation, despite putting myself at a bit of a disadvantage for the first two gyms. Evolving a Metapod into a Butterfree was a must against Brock, while finding a Pikachu in the Viridian Forest proved quite useful against Misty. Charmander, which eventually became Charizard, came in quite handy in the fourth and fifth gyms, and the ability to teach it Fly.

Cyndaquil was my pick from the Johto region, as Typhlosion was a beast of a Pokemon and could learn Fire Wheel.

Torchic was also my first preference in Hoenn, as the fire/fighting type was very effective, and Blaziken, like Typhlosion, kicked ass. Clearly I gravitated towards the fire types haha.

Yeah Kanto is my fave region as well.
Always went with Charmander, never really liked Bulbasaur.
The first grass type that I really liked as a starter was Treecko.
I chose Totodile as starter in Johto, I think I tried Cyndaquil once and never Chikorita.
As mentioned before, I always went with Treecko but when I re-watched the anime,
Blaziken seemed sweet so I started getting Torchic.

There are some amazing modded ones out there for those who use the PC emulator (I have a 3DS as well).
Shiny Gold was pretty good fun and one called Ash Grey, which follows the anime very closely.
EG you "train" with Brocks father so electric moves work against Brock and his rock types.

I waited a while before I got a 3DS and I got Platinum, White 2, Alpha Sapphire and X.
Didn't really like Alpha Sapphire too much but was a fan of X.
Played every region and I've watched most of the anime (which is pretty bad but meh).

My favourite pokemon is probably Electabuzz and I like Magmar as well.
Would have to think about it to decide what my favourite six would be.

I always liked Johto but have got a soft spot for Kalos, got back into Pokemon X recently and it's fun just messing around training, something nice to relax too.
