look, as much as every1 would love to see it, prendergast will never be a good centre half back. i'd also swap lappin n wiggins around

This is how I see it.

B: Teague Thornton Sporn
HB: Lappin Norman Houlihan
C: Scotland Stevens Camporeale
HF: Morrell Whitnall Waite
F: Fisher Fevola McGrath
R: French Koutoufides Hulme

Int: Livingston Wiggins McCormick Angwin
Emerg: Johnson Mott Walker

If we have any major injuries it will be hard to see us make the 8. If everything goes right and we don't have any major injuries we could make the 8.

Will be interesting to see how would fit in Mott, French plus Angwin. One has to make way and on talent alone, it shouldn't be Angwin. So one ruck plus Angwin as a back up. Having someone like Beasy in the side as a pinch hitter in the ruck and as part of a CHF or CHB rotation would give us better balance.

This is how i see it....

Sporn Thornton Norman
Lapps Prenda Teague
Waite Stevo Campo
Walker Whitnal Houla
Kenna Fevola Angwin

Mott Kouta Scotland

Livo, Morell, French, Harford

Emerg: Mgrath Bowyer Johnson Pup

Don't slag us off, debate the points on their merits. This is the Carlton team board and the rules are different to the AFL bunfight board.

As an Essendon supporter I opened a thread on BomberTalk saying that I believe Carlton will play finals footy and still believe it.

There is enough talent there (old and young) now to make the players believe it too. With the additions of Stevens and other "pre-made" players I think they have a good shot. They will finish somewhere 6 - 12 in my book.

Teague Thornton Livingston
Sporn Morrell Bowyer
Camporeale Scotland Stevens
Houlihan Whitnall Lappin
McGrath Fevola Angwin
Mott Koutoufides Johnson
French Fisher Waite McCormick

I read somewhere that Pagan was keen to try Digby at CHB early next year, so on that proviso, this is my team.
We have plenty of midfielders to rotate now. Norman and Prendergast need too push hard for key defensive spots and will make the eight.

FB: Bannister Thornton Sporn
HB: Johnson Norman Houlihan

HF: Fisher Whitnall Bowyer
FF: Angwin Fevola Lappin

Inter: Prendergast French Walker Harford

Hard work trying to fit everyone in!

Who knows what we'll start with round 1.....hopefully the pre season comp gives the match committee a good idea of who they can pick come round 1!

*hides under rock waiting for criticism*

I'm just thinking about our midfield rotation, and somehow trying to work it in with our possible weakness with big guys in the the backline.

I'm wondering whether Kouta, Prenda, and Norman can all play backline? I think the answer is YES.
Can those 3 also play in the midfield? Well Kouta sure can. Prenda can too. Norman? I'm not sure?

Could three guys like these (or maybe Beasy?) be used in the midfield? And maybe change them down back?

I just think it could cause opposition clubs nightmares if we always had a 192+cm 92+kg midfielder to compliment guys like Houla, Campo, Stevens etc. And then change them (or rest them) on the oppositions 3rd best big forward.

I'm still thinking about it.....

Any thoughts ..... ?????

I am salvating at the idea of seeing Kouta, Waite and Walker changing middfle-forward.:D
Let the opposition worry about us.

You have done it now Zig! Although I agree with you about Kouta in defense, this forum is going to tear you to peices for it. It seems most dont want to hear about our champ playing in a defensive role.

Prepare yourself for a possie (is that the collective noun for threads?) of abusive posts!!

PS: If you really want a reaction, talk about Franchina in glowing terms!!!!!!

I don't think Kouta should play there all the time; - but maybe rest there.

Franchina? I'd struggle to find a spot for him. He's known for the Winmar game, and little else.
I'd love to see him develop into a dependable back pocket who can keep a Matera type goal sneak quiet.
But his time is running out .....

Kouta resting in defense is fine, but theres no way he can hold down CHB against most CHFs in the league anymore unless something drastically changes following a solid and full preseason. It was obvious he didn't have the leap (or maybe was just missing the confidence in his knee) to contest in the air like he used to and I think the younger brigade such as Riewoldt and Tredrea would rip him to shreds. I'm not sure who he could play on most weeks, obvisously against the Eagles he could probably matchup nicely with Jackovich, but theres not many teams that have a Jako type for Kouta to play on. He shouldn't play on the 'gorillas' like Hall as his effictiveness roaming half back would be lost if he was playing out of the square.

He needs to be midfield primarily and foward/defender secondary.
