The term campaigner?

I hadn't been on here much of late but on my return I see the term campaigner everywhere.
I know what a campaigner is but on here it seems a derogatory term like Eddie McChins is a campaigner and umpires are campaigners. Fred Bloogs is a campaigner.
It isn't a term I hear on the street but then again I am not young and hip.

I'm happy with the term, I've adopted it as my insult of choice at the football. Goodes got called a campaigner quite a few times when we played Sydney. And only those at the game from BigFooty know it's an insult not some sort of strange commentary on him as a player.
