I can't make up my mind this year on trade prospects, I really can't. And I'm sure I'm not the only one.
With that in mind I'm interested to learn from posters what type of players you are interested in during the trade period, but also what they'd cost in terms of: wage, picks and trades, list benefit, list problem, cap implications and culture. I've bolded the categories to fill in.
Be interested to see how others see it. Can certainly group two or more players together but be mindful of the cap constraints and what potential draftees add to the team.
I've assumed here that we have $1.5 - 2 million cap space for 2016 but we won't have that going forward. A high wage will push out some older or younger player(s).
I've provided some examples below.
****
SCENARIO 1
Target: Motlop
Estimated wage: 600k
Trade
Dees gain: Kennedy
Dees lose: 2nd round (@23)
Cats gain: Dees 2nd round, Pie's 2nd round (@30)
Cats lose: Motlop
Pies gain: Motlop
Pies lose: Kennedy, 2nd round
List benefits: provides outside finish and pace
List problems: loss of small mid/fwd
Draft cost: pick 2, Kennedy
Cap Implications: medium-high, could fit another medium cost player
Culture issues: potential drinking/behaviour issue
SCENARIO 2
Target: Dixon
Estimated wage: 700k
Trade
GCS gain: Pies 1st pick (@12), Pies 3rd round
Pies gain: Dixon
List benefits: provides a massive forward foil for Cloke and allows White to play 3rd tall/relief ruck
List problems: potentially pushes a ruck out or White
Draft cost: Lose picks 1, 3
Cap Implications: medium-high, could fit another medium cost player
Culture issues: see Motlop
SCENARIO 3
Target: Dangerfield
Estimated wage: 900k
Trade
N/A: Free Agent
List benefits: provides inside work, pace and forward marking ability
List problems: pushes out developing mid
Draft cost: nil
Cap Implications: high, could fit another low-medium cost player
Culture issues: potential flog
