This made me CRINGE, I have never seen somebody have to read off a sheet so much in my life. His constant reading off camera was very off putting.

Someone obviously thought the same, they just decided to give him the piece of paper to read off at the end, all he needed was to use his finger like Bindi and it would have been complete!

John Williamson was very good, John 'Thank God Your Here!'

Not to mention the poor bastard's lisp... Is that there all the time, or was he just working in a new set of choppers... Cause they looked remarkably white....

I can see why people were pissed off about it, i know for one that my dad was saying "who is this <insert swear word here> idiot ? What is he doing there ? throughout.

I can only think that it was a stressful day, with a lot to get through, he would have either mispronounced or just plain forgot what he was supposed to say, without it.

The reading off camera was a bit annoying, I guess. However if I were in his position I wouldn't have remembered all the words especially given the occasion, and would have had to read off something too, so I can't really say anything. :)

I think it was good to have a Wiggle involved - Steve obviously worked with them, and it would have been good for little kids watching the tribute to see someone they can maybe relate to better than politicians and older celebrities.

i think having the blue wiggle was good. he was there, allowing children all over to watch and understand. Had there been some old man mc'ing, it wouldn't have been so child friendly. remember, steve irwin was king of the kids!!

Are you guys for real? It was a memorial not a goddamn variety show put on for your benefit. The family wanted him, the family got him. That's all that matters.

****ing armchair critics passing comment over a 'funeral service'. Amazing.

FWIW - I thought he was an appropriate speaker, as both the Wiggles and Steve Irwin are/were idolised by kids - and a lot of kids were watching the TV coverage.

The ones which made me feel a little squirmish were the Hollywood set (such as Justin Timberlake who met the man once). But I suppose that's John 'I'm Steve's Best Mate' Stainton's opportunist salesman/producer touch.

Some people just need to find something to moan about.I wonder if they realise the Wiggles worked with Steve over the years. In fact they did a DVD and CD a few years ago with Steve at Australia Zoo.

I thought Justin looked a little uncomfortable - like he didn't really know what to say. However, he spent more time with Steve than a lot people who are upset about Steve's death, so it was nice of him to share something with the rest of us. :)

Yes! Virtually every time I see/hear from John Stainton he is talking about being Steve's best friend. I like Wes a lot better. :p J.S did a fantastic job though.

Get a grip! Many kids associate The Wiggles with Steve Irwin due to some work they have done together.

If you thought that was cringe worthy did you bother to check out John Williamson - What a D*ck!:thumbsd:

I never said it was cringe worthy, i said i could see why some people may have thought it looked bad. I was relating as to what my dad said about seeing the Wiggle there. If you want to quote someone, may as well quote the person that started the topic in the first place.

I understood the symbolism of having a wiggle there, as the wiggles are another phenomenon which kids enjoy and relate to immensly.
