43. Y// Mirakzul's Island Y Y Y

Implicated parties:
Mirakzul ( Hellbourne 's ) 's original builds extended up from the bottom to (42) the Swamp biome island, he may have gone a little further north but I don't think so. He since was heavily involved (he was the primary party actually, more so than me) in the northern exploration and had a base way up at (1) Nether Wart Station. he would lose that. he also worked on almost every station along the way, other islands near (1) and at Sweet for some time.

Bonerstroke ( I never remember BF names ) had a base that was off to one side of approx (24), (25), (26). His builds would have extended perhaps just past Birch Log Station but not as far as Chevening.

Eth went further than (1) and built to the north of Nether Wart Station. Here are some coords I had snaffled at some point:
cheez : 560, -35051
desert : 316, -35049
jungle : -159, -35036
mirakzul's : -436, -28212 <--- (1) on the railroad's station list
Yes, Eth did actually extend our explored territory another 25% further north :D And that's just where his base was, for all I know he went further north again, and who knows, maybe also east and west.

JoshWoodenSpoon joined me at Sweet for a bit of work recently, including a hike very far west, some 20k blocks west in fact. These were all new chunks, he was looking for a new jungle. While he grabbed some goodies, I don't think he set up any bases or builds. I would expect with his agreement you would be able to reset all chunks along his explored path.

As far as I know, this is the limitation of what's in place and might raise a desire for preservation from the affected parties. Hate's work in the region was all close to Sweet itself. he also relies upon access to his original base at Turbo, which is south of spawn by, I guess, maybe 1000 blocks? Let's call it 2000 to be safe?

Soooo at a pinch, I think a good approach would be :
- Start by getting Josh's input on his wide west foray, and probably delete all those chunks. Hopefully that will reduce the issues a bit as that would be a lot of new chunks.

Then, consider copying the server into two servers, and editing them as follows:
- Original Server : extends north only as far as Y=-15500 (just past Bonerstroke's island) and everything north of that is reset. This server will have only half the northern rail, will not have Sweet, not have Eth's northern outpost.
- Sweet based server : Continues to hold all the northern regions, but everything south of Y=+2000 is reset. This will lose various areas from Sweet's server eg Chief your and family's own Wild West themed town. Of course these will remain on the original server.
- East and west is also widely explored but nowhere at near as much as the north - maybe 7, 8 or so thousand blocks. They can probably be left alone? Perhaps we could look further into more resetting after the split is done.

Thoughts?

Aye one would only find a ludicrous chain or torches, the occasional primitive shelter, and of course The JWS Blue Ice & Berries Expedition Memorial Museum (a once trusty oak boat).

After looking at some old maps (but no coords avail) I can estimate the furthest east I ever explored - which might arguably be the furthest east anyone has gone but cant guarantee - is about 5k or 6k blocks where lies Mulletville racecourse. While I explored further (a little), I did not build anything further east.

From this old map collection, which I've just now annotated with the very sparse coords notes i could find, I think I was pretty accurate. Mulletville (my furthest base east) seems to be at about X=+5000 to +5200

And Old Server is up again too.

I have temporarily turned the Old Server settings to "peaceful" because the broken mobcap was making it impossible to move around the nether. The pigmen were all aggro and nothing would stop them. Have no changed it back to "easy" which was the previous setting. The mobs are still overspawning but hopefully the pigman problem is fixed.

stupidlikeafox are you having problems with ridiculously high mob spawning numbers? For example, even looking in a river, are there a dozen squid every time now when they used to be rare?

There was a time when there were hardly any mobs. It seems like a dark art to get it right.

Hate is this the lighting glitch you were talking about? Wow for a moment I thought it was some new included shader that was showing the shadow of a skyscraper from over in the CBD. I hadn't noticed the problem until I saw this, and then later in a mob farm I noticed that half of it was lit up (without light sources) and mobs were only spawned on the other half. Wow they have seriously broken the game this time!

That's the one. It's incredibly broken. At Turbo it is like that - the big hole full of torches is basically a cage fighting arena for mobs, there was mobs spawning on parts of my two mega structures. The horse/walking pathways, nearly all the way to spawn are like that filled with mobs as are the fields around them.

It is really bad.

Let's hope they fix it soon. Frighteningly, the vaunted updates don't mention these problems in the lists of bug fixes ... but bug reports do mention it.

Hi Chief . There has ( according to Hate ) another update (1.14.2) which apparently resolves the lighting problem as mentioned above.

Server were back for a day or so yesterday but is gone again.

Also keen in knowing if there's any way I can have opportunity to download the world for local use. I get better rendering distance on locally stored files and it would improve my trip videos.

2. I can get a copy for you. It will be a few GB so we need to sort out a transfer method.
Yeah not fully sure about this, I'm not up with it. I usually upload big files to google drive when I want to share a movie with friends etc. I know it's a big job with big files, if it's too much trouble, don't fuss too much.

Cheers for updating, Chief. It is good that at least the lighting bug was fixed which makes the still broken mob cap somewhat easier to play with.

Just curious as to what server specs our world is running on as I know you mentioned we're getting close to the max? I don't think 1.14 did a world as big as ours any favours. It has been fairly bad the last few days - you'll get a good hour here and there. Mobbs and I are on right now and it is s-t-r-u-g-g-l-i-n-g and also around the same time last night it passed out on us.

Some of Mobbs' suggestions seem fairly decent re: splitting up the world and seem feasible.

1.14.2 is a massive help, the torches are now fixed! The mobcap is still immensely dodgy but as Hate said tonight, it's a lot easier to handle when at least they can't spawn right where you'd completely safed an area (which was happening with the lighting glitch before it was fixed).

Somehow 1.14.2 update smacked my big map wall around. For 3/4 of the wall, the maps and item frames had just disappeared. As it's a bug-related loss, I went operator mode and remapped the city, to replace the wall. While I was out flying around mapping, the lag commonly left me floating over unloaded space, but the mobs were loaded.

This enabled me to capture this impressive party census of mobs which would have been under the ocean and ocean floor below me, although without chunks loaded the ground itself wasn't visible. I am sure all these mob entities would be contributing heavily to the lag! Enjoy!

At the moment when it crashes, give it a minute and it will reboot itself.

My only thoughts are maybe make it Peaceful for a bit to let the mobs despawn, then back to normal.
