A cursory look at the scoreboard from Fridays disaster would lead one to conclude that it was bad kicking that let the Swans down.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
Whilst I counted at least 6 absolute must get sitter shots at goal which we blew - the final margin of 47 points was a fair reflection of what happened out on the field.
We were absolutely shithouse - they were much harder at the ball than we were, their skills in the wet conditions made us look like bumbling amateurs, and we seemed to lack any kind of coherent game plan and when things started badly - we lacked the gumption to get back into the game.
It comes back to what I have been saying for a while - we are a mentally and intellectually weak team.
WE should have known the Bombers were gonna be fired up for this one - yet we seemed to have no set plan in place to try and counter their agression and commiitment early in the game.
When we had the ball our disposal was directionless, and inspite of the pressure we were under when in possession we should have done much, much more with the ball when we had it. Players consistently chose the wrong option and our poor kicking for goal was just another symptom of what a truly dispirited and dejected rabble we were on Friday.
We should be strong enough to regather and regroup after quality opposition get a jump on us like Friday, but, typically we just didn't have it.
I'll say it again - we are a good team, but we don't KNOW how to win and we don't WANT to win.
Footy more and more these days is played between the ears and I'm afraid the Swans played like feeble-minded village idiots on Friday.
cheers
