Hi I live in Perth and play quite a bit of knock around tennis mainly with a good mate, and am thinking about joining a club this summer and playing competitively.

Just wondering:

- what are the best clubs in Perth to join?
- how does pennants work? How do you get graded and put into teams?
- from what Ive seen a lot of oldies play on the weekends. Is it generally like this in pennants/competition tennis too? I would prefer to play people around my own age who can still move well

Thanks

I live in Melbourne so can't really comment on Perth and where you live but here we have local comp with clubs around the district the we play on Saturday afternoon. There are two season, summer (oct-mar) and winter (apr-sep) and generally have to sign up around now or next season. We have grades depending on your skill level and generally I have found you get a good mix of standard although it can vary from season to season. I guess the best thing or you to do is head off to your local club maybe on a Saturday where there's most likely going to be people there and have a look.

Righty-o all signed up for pennants this season, playing in the club's third team. Not sure what division this will end up being. Cant wait. Been working pretty hard on my game over winter, and have just got a new racket.

If anyone wants to talk tennis with me (tactics, equipment etc) Im always up for a gag!
